Child Actor Ricky Schroder Crashes Tina Peters Trial

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

THURSDAY UPDATE: Nancy Lofholm reports for the Colorado Sun:

Outside the courtroom Wednesday, former child actor-turned-election denier and COVID-19 skeptic Ricky Schroder confronted reporters. He carried a Bible and recited prayers for Peters…

In spite of being confined to home (except for her court appearances) and having to wear an ankle monitor, Peters has continued to use regular appearances on right-wing podcasts to gin up support for her trial, encouraging listeners to “Stand with Tina.” Recent posts on the platform X urge supporters to come to her trial to protest, wave signs, and publicly pray for her acquittal.

Schroder, who starred in the 1980s sit-com “Silver Spoons,” appeared to be the only supporter to take up the exhortation for public prayer on Wednesday.

—–

The long-awaited trial of ex-Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters on felony charges stemming from her failed attempt to supply evidence of election fraud after the 2020 presidential election is underway this week with jury selection, and as the Grand Junction Sentinel’s Charles Ashby reports, the atmosphere outside the courtroom in Grand Junction is as circus-like as deputies on the scene will allow:

Wait, does he mean that Ricky Schroder, the child actor turned far-right Hollywood exile who (checks notes) does own property in Mesa County? The very same:

Although his acting career in recent years hasn’t amounted to much, Schroder’s strident conservative political activism has earned him some replacement attention. Shroder is perhaps most famous recently for posting two-time teenage killer Kyle Rittenhouse’s $2 million bail with help from Mike “MyPillow Guy” Lindell. We haven’t Schroder’s name previously come up as one of Tina Peters’ devout and sometimes threatening supporters, but given his background and proximity it’s no surprise.

The one thing we can say is it’s a relief that these encounters are taking place inside a secure building where everybody has been checked for implements of destruction.

We’ll update when news reports are filed on today’s proceedings inside and antics outside the courtroom–and remember that these are just the preliminary days of a trial expected to run well into next week. So the sermonizers and reporter accosters should pace themselves.
