As the Fort Collins Coloradoan reports:
Perry Buck, a member of the elected Weld County Council, announced she is a candidate for the Republican nomination to state House District 49.
Buck, who is married to Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck, is a life insurance agent and former small-business owner…
House District 49 covers parts of Larimer and Weld counties. The district currently is represented by Rep. B.J. Nikkel, R-Loveland. Nikkel cannot seek re-election from the district because of new boundaries established by the Reapportionment Commission.
The Loveland Reporter-Herald reports on another GOP candidate for HD-49 recently announced, but we’d expect that the well-connected Perry Buck, former vice-chair of the state party, should have no trouble beating bail-bond shop owner Vicki Marble of Fort Collins.
It’s also noteworthy that Mrs. Buck wrote a scathing letter as head of the Colorado Federation of Republican Women regarding the “threatening” of conservative women in leadership roles, citing reapportionment’s redrawing of districts like Rep. B.J. Nikkel’s–part of the backfire-shortened “misogynist map” complaints from last month. Now that Mrs. Buck is in a primary against another Republican woman to fill Rep. Nikkel’s seat, we assume that’s no longer an issue.
