The State Column reports from the Aspen Ideas Festival:
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann seems to have found an unlikely fan: former President Bill Clinton.
Mr. Clinton, speaking from the Aspen Idea Festival, said Sunday that he is surprised by Ms. Bachmann’s political prowess.
“Bachmann’s been a better candidate than I thought she’d be, and I don’t agree with her on nearly anything! She’s got a very compelling personal story, and she’s gotta lot of juice, and she turns [on] a lot of the anti-government crowd,” Mr. Clinton told the crowd in Colorado… [Pols emphasis]
So all you wavering Republicans who want to support Rep. Michele Bachmann’s presidential bid but apparently don’t think she can win—Bill Clinton’s “support” settles it, right? In what direction this might settle that particular question…well, that’s up to the individual.
And please remember this is a family show, we’re about 83% sure that’s not what he meant. But this is Bill Clinton we’re talking about, so at least keep that 17% of uncertainty PG-13 rated? Tim Pawlenty’s aide Vin Weber won’t complain after having to apologize for his crack about Bachmann’s “sex appeal,” but politicians should just be extra careful about this sort of thing.
Ken “High Heels” Buck says definitely.
