The video above inspired me to write this. I was an early supporter of Ryan Frazier when he began campaigning for this 2010 election cycle as a Senate candidate. I was disappointed that he dropped out but it was probably for the best given that it was long shot for him to win even without Jane Norton in the picture. His decision to instead run against Ed Perlmutter in Congressional District 7 was probably the best decision for his political career and for the image of the Republican party as a whole. We have the greatest number of black Republicans running for office this election cycle since the Reconstruction and Ryan is one of the candidates with the best shots at winning. Now, I am not a resident of CD-7 but I am writing this to those that are. I ask for you all to support Ryan Frazier in his bid for Congress. He will be a moderate voice within the Republican caucus and will begin the transformation of the Republican party’s image, which was the cause and reason I joined the Republican party in the first place.
There is a reason why The Denver Post endorsed him.
He has shown independence from typical conservative positions on gay marriage and on immigration. For example, he supported extending benefits to same-sex partners as a City Councilmen, which in my opinion is one of the largest issues at play in the gay marriage debate since marriage in the legal sense should not be confused with marriage in the religious sense. Also, he is not an extreme on immigration and instead focuses on enforcing the laws already enacted and providing a responsible and enforceable work visa program. Finally, he will be a fiscally responsible and liberty inspired voice for limited government, which is greatly needed for my generation in particular because we will be burdened the most by the increasing deficit brought to us by both parties.
As I am here writing in my hometown of Boulder, a district that is probably one of the least competitive in the state, I hope those who live in CD-7 make the right choice and vote for Ryan Frazier. I believe he will make a great Congressman and will bring a new voice within the GOP. I have felt this way ever since I first heard him speak at the Michael Steele GOP fundraiser dinner in early 2009. His inspiring campaign video “A New Way Forward” solidified my support for him (which you can watch yourself after the jump). He has run a polished campaign that has often been acknowledged in the national press through features of his campaign and many guest appearances from Ryan Frazier himself.
With this I ask you, can I count on your support to elect Ryan Frazier to Congress?
