Unfortunately I was out of the country when you all were touting Tim Hoover’s hatchet piece on Penry’s claim that Ritter has grown government by over 4,000 employees since taking office. I won’t revive that debate here, but you must admit that Governor Ritter is talking out of both sides of his mouth. On the one hand, Ritter says he doesn’t have the ability to manage hiring and firing within higher education. On the other hand, he’s claiming credit for “saving” higher education jobs with the manna from Washington.
Compare these two stories from the Denver Post:

Ritter Taking Credit For “Saving” State Jobs:

So, which is it, Governor? Either you have the ability to influence state hiring/firing — or you don’t. God knows you’d never try to have it “both ways” right?
One last question…where’s Congressman McInnis on this? Is Michael Martin Murphy having a concert in Cortez or something?
