    1. The protests angered Burton, who stepped up to the mic and lashed out, saying the Democratic Party had been fighting for single-payer “since before you were born.”

And the Democratic Party will still be fighting for it after you die!

  1. 24 Hours since the Manchester bombing and the Colorado Pols have conspicuous avoided any mention of the radical Muslim terror attack. Are you waiting for Michell Obama to hold up a sign, #Stop killing our girls? How long will you continue your silence on the primary issue of our day?

  2. Let me talk to you dictator to dictator…

Trump Called Rodrigo Duterte to Congratulate Him on His Murderous Drug War: “You Are Doing an Amazing Job”

“I just wanted to congratulate you because I am hearing of the unbelievable job on the drug problem,” Trump told Duterte at the beginning of their call, according to the document. “Many countries have the problem, we have a problem, but what a great job you are doing and I just wanted to call and tell you that.”

Since Duterte took office in June, Philippine national police and vigilante death squads have embarked on a campaign to slaughter drug users as well as drug dealers. “Hitler massacred three million Jews [sic], now, there’s three million drug addicts. I’d be happy to slaughter them,” he said in September. Last month, he told a group of jobless Filipinos that they should “kill all the drug addicts.” Police have killed over 7,000 people, devastated poor areas of Manila and other cities, and used the drug war as a pretext to murder government officials and community leaders.

  3. Cowardly Colorado Pols and their henchmen ProgressNow, where are your diaries on the Manchester bombing. Tell us it our fault for not understanding why terrorist are mad at us. How long will you wait?

    1. There's a lesson here for you, Pear.  No free meals. Don't expect someone else to do the work for you so you can sit back and play armchair quarterback. If this is your burning political issue, fill the void by pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, write a diary (as most of us have/do here –  consistent with rules of the game) and see if it gets promoted.

It's how we do it here.

      #CarpeDiem

    2. I commented right after the Manchester attack that I just couldn't  write about it – not because I'm coddling or excusing Muslim extremists, as you  imply, but because it hurts. It is painful to contemplate those little girls, out for maybe their first grown up concert, hit with shrapnel or trampled to death in the crowd's panic.

Psuedo also commented the day of the Manchester bombing:

Generally, it's a good idea to wait a day for investigation, and find out what the authorities are saying about the attacker and the motives, rather than jump right in politicizing before the bodies are even identified.

However, since mind-reading and imputing motives is your schtick, as Michael says, jump right in and write a diary. And no, it probably won't get promoted, unless there is a Colorado connection.

BTW, in this country, most of the incidents of terror are related to white racists and domestic extremists.

In a 2015 New York Times article, University of North Carolina Professor Charles Kurzman and Duke Professor David Schanzer found that Islam-inspired terror attacks accounted for 50 deaths since 9/11, but that “right-wing extremists averaged 337 attacks per year in the decade after 9/11, causing a total of 254 fatalities.”

Yet Ken Buck (and other GOP reps) still refuse to talk about right wing extremists – at all. At 37:55 in his town hall video, he is asked again about why he ducks the question. Buck just detoured into why he's all for the death penalty, in favor of strengthening the FBI's domestic terrorism capability.  Then he detoured into bashing Black Lives Matter.

In my opinion, politicizing law enforcement and terrorism prevention by screening only for a pre-conceived profile:  foreigners and Muslims (Trump's Muslim ban) will not keep us safer.

Where I live, we've had two school lockdowns – both were from armed  citizens with a gun and a gripe randomly tootling around the neighborhood. That's who I'm afraid of.

I'll repeat to you my challenge to Moddy and AC: 6 months in to Trump's term, let's look at actual economy and  job numbers, terrorist attacks in the US, including fatalities, and where our troops are. 3 Metrics.

So you go and write that diary if you're so inspired. I've got a couple of diaries cooking, which may or may not get finished and/or promoted. You've got your Facebook audience if you want a friendlier crowd. Do it!

      1. Here is what the Colorado Pols have written about since the bombing.

        1. Tuesday Open Thread

        2. Trump's Budget Basically Calls For Killing Poor People

        3. The Daily D'oh:Former CIA Chief Drops Anvil on Trump's Head

        4. Michael Dougherty Makes Three for A.G.

        5. Trump thanked for "giving up billionaire lifestyle" to"save the American people"

        6. George Brauche Gets Schooled on SEO

        7. Television Radio Ads Push Gardner to Dump Trumpcare

Interesting Colorado Pols could not find the courage to write about the primary issue of the day facing humanity. So much easier to write schtick about crap that only matter to a dozen people.

Yes I can write a diary but it will never be promoted because the pols only promote views that agree with the liberal left view. Shame on the Colorado Pols!

        1. If your diary connects the Manchester bombings to Colorado politics, (not that hard since probably all of our local and federal politicians are making public statements about it), and it isn't a snivelly, all about how mean Polsters are  repressing poor Pear and the Trumpkin Trolls, and you follow the other guidelines in the "How to write a post" link, it has a decent chance of getting promoted.

Or you could keep on whining about how nobody will listen to you anyway. Saves you from the effort and risk of writing a good diary. Your choice.

I have plenty of entitled Trumpkin students like you. Yes, I did just compare you to a Sophomore.

                1. Speaking of the Manchester bombing, I thought Trump promised to make the world a safer place. Is that an empty promise?

And I thought that using the phrase radical Islamic terrorist was supposed to be the solution to the problem. What gives?

        2. Why do you care whether it's "promoted" or not?  It's still on the website and people can provide comment.  Here's a political angle for you to pursue with a diary: how US intelligence continues to strain relationships with our allies with the leaking of information. The diary practically writes itself:

US leak of Manchester attacker's name strikes new blow to intelligence sharing

Or you could draw parallels between different forms of human misery, linking, say, the proposed budget yesterday to the least amongst us?  Perhaps compare the civilians we killed in Syria in the last month alone (80 in total, 4x the death count in Manchester)

          Jump in.  You'll be fine.

            1. For Keerist sake, Pear.  Nobody is fronting for anyone.  Unlike conservative blogs, you roam here, free from tyranny of the site administrator but subjected to the critical thinking skills of other posters.  Write a diary and be done with it.

              1. I think you are wasting your time Michael. He seems to be on some sort of a mission to make a point.

I think he genuinely doesn't understand how this works, which isn't too surprising when you look at his history of cognitive impairment.
