“I’ll tell you who was largely behind this whole subprime mortgage scandal and Obama’s announcement today forgiving even more loans, this foreclosure assistance program, $25 billion shakedown of the banks. It’s ACORN! ACORN is behind this, ACORN’s behind the foreclosure deal. It’s a payoff for them.”

and womens and teh gays and the supreme court and the boys on that island, and liberals, and Romney and and and and. . .
The man needs a brain transplant. The one with the sea slug is not going well.
you when you start channelling Libertad.
Ummmm, . . . wait a minute . . . anyone ever seen a picture of El Fatbo and El Iberthud together??
and his demo keeps aging, shrinking and dying. He’s been dropped altogether in some markets He couldn’t stop McCain or Obama and hasn’t been relevant since. Just preaching to a shrinking choir, affecting nothing.
Last week in the Home D parking lot I saw a guy in a mobile windshield replacement van working on a car. He had Rushbo blaring from the stereo so you could hear it halfway across the parking lot. He looked about late 50’s and pretty haggard, like he had led a hard life.
I wondered if a guy like that would ever understand the irony of it all. Here he is, idolizing the very people that do their best to fuck him over. Sad.
I always think the same thing when I canvass in neighborhoods of mainly rental bungalows with beat up pick ups and GOP campaign signs out front. What did the GOP ever do for you, I can’t help thinking. Sadder still that they actually thought Obama had raised their taxes, in spite of what their own tax returns must say. It’s worse than passive ignorance. More like aggressive, belligerent ignorance. Either way, it’s self defeating ignorance.

it could be the death-knell for thousands and thousands of our American mandible manufacturing jobs . . .
Even more remarkable, she can now reprint an unlimited supply . . . hundreds of new replacement mandibles . . . at the touch of a button for the rest of her life. No more waiting for that order to arrive from The Mandible Store.
A 3D Chocolate printer!
but isn’t this “processed” foods to the nth degree? And a bug with the printer will be real.
I spent a few minutes checking out the latest from the brilliant Mr. Kurzweil and associates. He never fails to amaze.
Apparently, those military history classes I got when I was in the Army aren’t as effective when given to Marines.
http://www.marinecorpstimes.co…
I doubt that this will raise as much controversy as the last time the Marines were in the news…..I personally think this is proof that either enough time has passed that the historical perspective has been lost on Generation Kill, or that our education system is glossing over talking about tough subjects.
Either way, I don’t think this is proof that the Corps is rife with Neo-Nazism. Money quote from the article:
Someone knew the significance of the logo, supported its message, and promoted it to the battalion. You don’t randomly come up with an image like that, and you don’t get it from Google without learning the background of it.
So my guess is at least someone in the Corps has some neo-Nazi leanings.
please, not one of the 10 men in the photo had a clue as to the origin of the logo? Really? I agree with the doubt that neo-nazism is rampant in our military but social insensitivity and historical ignorance seem to be commonplace. Per the published story the logo has been evident since at least 2004. 8+ years and commanding officers didn’t know about it? Really?
How about a part of increased education are one:one conversations with Holocaust survivors, with death camp liberators, with WWII vets from both theaters. Marines didn’t have as much of an ETO presence so do they lack institutional knowledge of the sacrifices of their brethren? Would this elite team get a bye if they had appropriated Imperial Army symbols? Just sad what we forget within so few generations.
A couple of things to note:
Most commenters feel there’s nothing wrong with this and they’re being unfairly picked on by the media.
Some commenters give the impression that this is widespread among scout snipers and has been going on for a long time.
Universally, they’re incredibly riled by the insinuation that they harbor Nazi sympathies.
Overall, I was struck that they’re absolutely blind to the optics of this. The response is belligerently defensive. I know that you can’t judge by commenters (just look at the DP comments), but while most Marines are probably doing a face-palm, there’s a significant fraction that sees nothing wrong with this.
if you care to see
I’m still falling on the side of stupid on this. Perhaps I’m a bit dated, but the one time I actually encountered dirtbag Neo-Nazi members in the Armed Forces, they were all wannabees in the support unit.
NEVER encountered any in Combat Arms…
folks will say “if you weren’t there you can’t criticize”
Obama played a little chess today in announcing his accommodation to the oh-so-outraged Catholic Bishops (who, if I understand current policy dating from the GW Bush administration, have been paying for contraceptive coverage for their hospital employees until now…).
The new tweak is that for religiously affiliated organizations, the insurers will be required to foot the bill for the contraceptives rather than the organizations. Clever, and a win-win for everyone except the self-righteous bishops who spent so long covering up the pedophile scandal at the Church. Insurance companies save money (it costs more to deal with pregnancy or any of the other conditions that contraceptives address); women get to make their own moral decisions; the Church doesn’t actually need to expend money, effort, or opinion supporting contraceptives…
and remember past moves
And one the Obama administration forgot is their defeat in the mid-January Supreme Court decision (9-0) to give religious groups “exception” in work bias laws.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01…
Perhaps the “accommodation” idea should have been the first one floated as taking on religion isn’t working in today’s America.
What the Obama administration did was to get the far right all lathered up over birth control, put the difference between the parties in the headlines, and reminded all the suburban women (among others) what the Republicans really stand for. Obama didn’t lose any support he would have had under any circumstances, but his opponents sure did. You’re really not thinking like a chess player, ER.
nor would there have been any Komen controversy if we just uncoupled health insurance from employers and went with solid quality universal coverage through medicare for all with a role to play for private insurers providing supplementary benefits for those who want them. Birth control and all non-optional, legal drugs and procedures would be covered as a matter of course.
Then women wouldn’t need PP for routine care and birth control access and hospitals and such run by religious groups wouldn’t have to be concerned with any of it. Another argument for joining the 21st century civilized world.
You pinko (or is that blue) commie.
for commie but it’s now the color of Republicans. Wait, could they be secret communists, working to screw things up so badly for the 99% that we’ll be ready to overthrow the consitution in favor of a United Communist States of America? That would explain a lot. Rush must be in on it.
that Rush was making a joke rather than being a joke for a change.
The only comedy Rush and other Republicans can understand is toilet humor, and even that is often over their heads.
oh, never mind.
Committee disbands by unanimous vote, citing lack of evidence.
Lesson: if caught doing something wrong, STONEWALL.

But there is Karma in the world . . .
No way to prove now that she was drunk so no way to prove she was carrying a weapon while drunk. Police attest to the fact that she didn’t ask for special treatment. Really leaves nothing to accuse her of that could possibly be backed up by anything concrete so just what would could be considered, in the way of evidence, in an investigation?
I wouldn’t call it a white wash, though. On the contrary, everybody involved managed to make everybody else involved look bad. That would include DPD, Bradford and Republican leadership. That wash water looks pretty scummy.
She got special treatment, whether she asked for it or not, and benefited. Then her attorney thumbed his/her nose at the Committee and said, “You’ve got nothing, and we’re not giving you anything more than that.”
People without legislative plates would have been treated differently.
You don’t have to say a word about expecting special treament. Your vehicle is your billboard.
What?
I don’t remember…..fetus in the food…. Acorn…something.
What were we talking about?
Since we touched on it here yesterday, I thought I’d update to say that the Mississippi legislator proposing to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America was a Democrat being snarky in the face of a raft of anti-immigration legislation, not a real proposal – though he did submit it as a real bill.
Democrats have been on a snark legislation roll lately, with another Dem legislator proposing to amend an Oklahoma eggmendment style bill with a proposal to also outlaw spilling semen anywhere other than the nature-designed receptacle.
Or all Pabon’s attempts to honor Mitt Romney for being the father of Obamacare, etc., here at home!
WTF happened to the webinar diary?! Is it too late to register?
Romney, at CPAC today. What a strange choice of words – conjures up the image of a governor with a large wooden paddle.
On any number of issues the record clearly shows policies and stands that nobody would call “severely” or even the less hostile sounding “ultra” conservative. And it’s not as if his rivals are going to let anyone forget that.
