What’s it say about the McInnis campaign when the person who has decided not to run brings in more money.

From the McInnis campaign we have:

.

GOP gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis raised more than $487,000 in the final three months of 2009, bringing their overall fundraising total to more than $1 million, the campaign said in a release.

So Ritter out-raised McInnis by 17%. Wasn’t McInnis outraising Penry by that amount the reason the GOP told Penry to drop out?

Ritter specifics below.

  1. He wasn’t kidding when he said at his press conference that fundraising had not been a problem for his campaign.

In all fairness to McInnis, these fundraising numbers were before Ritter left the campaign but still…kinds of kills the theory that the base wasn’t stepping up for Ritter.

  2. when he started the Feed Colorado campaign and announced plans to end childhood hunger in CO by 2015. Although some have criticised Kenney group’s handling of the campaign, I don’t see it, as much as I saw lukewarm union support for Ritter. You piss off unions, you lose your base. It’s that simple.

A rising star over at Kenney is Patrick Lane, a young Obama talent who came up with the Feed Colorado campaign. Almost immediately, Lane’s idea booked dozens of house parties each weekend for Ritter.

It’s a shame to see Lane leave. I hope Hickenlooper is smart enough to find him and hire him.
