Hi All;

This is my 1st interview with Tom so as per S.O.P. I will let him drive the conversation. However, any good questions are appreciated so that if the conversation gets on a given topic, I have good items to ask to dig in for details.

Interview is this Tuesday.

thanks – dave

  1. do you believe that so-called “tea partiers” represent an extremist movement of nihilism or a legitimate and intelligent political organization?

    That could be both a fairly specific question and one that could let him talk for a while.

    Other than that, I agree with RG above.

  2. Wiens was part of a conspiracy to deveop an “emergency” in Lake County. Rather than open meetings to discuss the scheduled emergency he went to Lake County 5 days before and made videotape of the 3 commissioners talking about the “emergency”. Rather than inform the city of Leadville he developed a website to criticize the feds and state govt. Rather than counsel the commissioners to be sure they had done all they could for the citizens his actions he just did publicity for himself. In doing so he perpetuated the secrecy.

  3. ….where does he stand on the Death Penalty?

    (BTW, Pete Coors was consistently pro-life, since he was opposed to the Death Penalty….it just got kept very quiet during the campaign…)

  4. 1)How do you explain the huge number of bankruptcies and shady business deals in your background.  Won’t that hurt in the general election?

    2)Do you think your method of conducting business is what contributed to the fall of Wall Street?

    3)Did your family bank accept bailout money?

    4)The Denver Post admonished your charity because you collected donations and never gave money to veterans or their families.  How do you explain that?

    5)Do you feel that greed is a hallmark of your business career?

    6)How do you explain unpaid debts from past campaigns – you never paid bills in the 80s.

    7)Can you honestly say that you would be an ethical Senator?  Your past record certainly does not support that?

        1. Then he’s not ready for prime-time. First off, his team should know how my initial interviews go (or at least read my post at the top).

          Second, he must know he will get questions like those – over and over again. He can’t pull a McInnis and run away from any uncomfortable questions.

  5. That Wiens said he would contribute from his own bank account. Has he already put that money into the campaign, or is he waiting to see how well he does before deciding if he is really going to push all those chips on the table? Whether or not he has already self-funded that amount will say a lot about what he thinks his chances are.
