We might have predicted it, but here are the details from Sen. Greg Brophy's gubernatorial campaign site:
To help spur safe gun ownership, my campaign has decided to giveaway a Smith & Wesson M&P15.
I took the time to make a few modifications myself, including:MVG vertical grip
MOE+ grip – AR15/M16
MBUS folding rear backup sight
MOE handguard carbine length – AR15/M16
MS3 multi mission sling Gen 1
ASAP ambidextrous sling attachment point
STR carbine stock mil spec
2X MOE polymer rail section 11 slotsI tricked this baby out with all the MagPul stuff you can add!
No donation necessary (though we doubt Sen. Brophy would mind), just click here to fill out a simple entry form. Best of all, this AR-15 rifle is "tricked out"–with the latest Magpul accessories, and apparently, Sen. Brophy's fingerprints! That could come in particularly handy depending on who wins this rifle, since Brophy has sworn to not obey the gun safety laws passed last year. We assume that means it will actually come equipped with the Magpul high capacity magazine pictured, and that no background check will be required for this private transfer to who might be a total stranger. Just the way the Founding Fathers intended!
And before those of you who find this an affront get on your high horses, be assured that the ever-snarky Sen. Brophy has already thought of what to say to you. We'll update when we hear what it is.

Did he file off the serial number too?
Looking at the image, which is the banner graphic Greg Brophy's "gun club giveaway" entry page. As a rule I try to not come to overly alarmist conclusions. It's bad for my blood pressure.
But please look at the background of this graphic. Which appears to be a crowd of people.
Overlain by a target.
Am I the only one who finds this a bit chilling?
Chilling? Only to a melon or a paper target. But I think you'd be right in assuming that at least part of the intent would be to freak out the Liberals. But I'm gonna sign up, too… 'cause I'm a big fan of irony.
I hope I win it. It'll make a nice TV news clip when I turn it over to the cops for their gun meltdown program 🙂
And I hope to win it, so I can use it to solve my Second Amendment problems.
(and yes, that was intended to be a sarcastic comment)
It would be so wrong of me to suggest Colo Pols fans to sign up on his website with a easy-to-dump account at @yopmail.com – the best part is, no signup needed at yopmail as it's already built-in.
"Holy Melon Poppin', I'm never gonna win 'less I attract SUPER-DUPER BATSHIT crazy competing 'gainst plain ol' Batshit crazy!"
Really?
What is it with these Republican politicians' obsession, even fetishism towards these inanimate objects — firearms?
The sound as if they are imbuing these objects with talismanic powers.
It borders on the rather weird.
There are serious issues that impact virtually every middle American's lives these days — employment, retirement, energy, education, etc. Yet, these GOP politicians still tend to pivot back to guns, guns, guns.
You know, I'm not anti-gun, but any politicians who seems to have this kind of single-minded, mania over one issue that revolves around the ownership of a tool is, well, truly looking to have herself or himself defined as some kind of nut.
Penis envy.
You've got it, Ralphie. It's a wee-wee thing. They think one of these things makes theirs bigger.
IndyP, it's because this base are reliable donaters and voters. The recalls weren't really about guns. Hudak's resignation wasn't about guns.
The fear, carefully crafted and encouraged through networked propaganda sites, that "Obama/Bloomberg/_______generic Democrats" are going to take people's guns away, leaving families vulnerable to the depradations of "them", is just the juice that gets people out to donate and vote for increasingly radical politicians, such as Greg Brophy.
This "gun fever" is about raw political power, encouraging Republican takeover in Colorado legislature and statewide offices. And that is about money, social control through conservative policies, and corporate profits. Although some Democrats (such as our governor) are very corporation-friendly, Republicans tend to be friendlier. And so, it's about money and corporate profits, as well.
I wonder what will happen if "the people of the gun" figure out how thoroughly they're being used, and against their own self interests.
Figure it out, MamaJ? Figurig is much too close to thinking. Thinking is for Libruls.
hope I win it. It'll make a nice TV news clip when I turn it over to the cops for their gun meltdown kindle program

Hello folks, I am the winner of the rifle, and I can assure you of two things, one, we DID do a background check, as per Colorado law, and two, Senator Brophy DID NOT provide the 30 round Pmag, which would be a violation of (current) Colorado law.
For those who think this was about the gun, stop. This issue goes beyond objects, and moves to show that your rights, are being systematically eroded away under the false flag of the "greater good". Remember, your Government does not care abut your health, or your well being, or your children, if they did, things like tobacco, alcohol, texting, drugs (including marijuana) would be at the front of debates like fireams.
We need people who remember the big picture for the small individual and fols like Senator Brophy can help put us back on track. I am tired of all our politicians wanting to pad their own pockets, or play golf with Joe Biden, just to appease our false leadership.
Vote, but please, please, do some independent research before doing so, and "stop drinking the kool-aid" that we are overwhelmed with each day. This is only way we can keep our country, and Colorado, from fates like California, Detriot, and other "democratic" wastelands.
