I like to fish. The more you fish, the more you learn what attracts them. They’re down there, hungry, swimming in the dark, looking for something different. Perhaps a really shiny lure, perhaps a big fat worm. But the bottom line is that they’re searching for something that stands out and attracts them.
Why can’t we find a leader in this vast, wonderful country of ours that knows how to fish?
I really can’t remember a time like this except for the unrest of the 60s. My God, we had leaders then. Visionaries who weren’t afraid to take a stand, and didn’t formulate political answers depending on the most recent poll or political party. Martin Luther King. Caesar Chavez. Bobby Kennedy.
I love this country. And I believe the time has never been more crucial for the emergence of a third political party. Bush’s ratings may be down the toilet, but Congress’ is at the bottom of the septic tank. We need leaders who put our country-in-crisis ahead of their political party. I don’t believe that will ever happen unless there’s a viable third party to challenge our current system.
Where do we start this movement? If the people lead, the leaders will follow. I’ve joined Code Pink (www.codepinkalert.org), a women’s activist movement. (In the 60s a cop asked a female protestor “Do you want to walk out of here like a lady, or do you want me to drag you out?” She replied “Drag me out like a lady”.)
I’ve also joined Unity08 (www.unity08.com), a third party advocate organization. I don’t know where it will go, but it’s a beginning.
These are a start for me. Drag me out like a lady, but at least drag me out.

They attract support with appeals to craven prejudices.
Knowing human nature, they promise what they cannot pay for.
Leaders ?
I would guess that good leaders are poor fishermen.
They are motivated by conscience,
not vote-grubbing among the bottom feeders.
They cannot win with today’s voters,
who prefer demagogues.
…………..
My guess is that there’s some prime mover behind Unity 08
who has already decided who they’re going to nominate,
and it will be somebody out of he same Republicrat mold.
Bloomberg, Gore or that classic Dem LaRouche.
