Doug Lamborn hasn’t reported his fundraising for Q3 yet.  How much do you all think he brought in?

How much will Lamborn raise in Quarter #3?

  1. Lamborn did an amazing job of fundraising in the last election.  Granted, most of that was through the CFG; but you have to give credit where credit is due.  He still has the names and addresses of all those folks who gave to him last time, and most of them are probably unaware of what a puts Lamborn has shown himself to be.  In fact, he looks pretty good on paper to out of district donors who will read about his voting record, seat on the ASC, and defense of Limbaugh.  If I did not know better, I would be proud of him for these things.

Then there is the PR side of fundraising releases.  If Lamborn had bad news in fundraising, you would think he would have released it last Friday.  That would have been right after being named to the ASC and right before the weekend giving it as little press as possible.

For those two reasons, I would normally think that Lamborn is about to release some stellar fundraising numbers.  But then there is the other side of the coin…

Lamborn has done a pathetic job of fundraising without the CFG help.  He could not account for substantial donations and either lied about returning them or didn’t know who his major donors were.  Furthermore, he has demonstrated that he is pretty much inept at public relations as demonstrated by his handling of the Bartha situation and his continual franking.

So I am torn on his upcoming numbers.  My gut is that he had another bad quarter and will be around $60,000.  If Lamborn turns in over $150,000, it will be very hard to beat him.  He will have demonstrated the ability to turn on a fundraising machine.  If he raised less than $50,000, he is a sitting duck even in a 3 man race.  He had Bohner to help him and he needs to beat Crank in fundraising to be viable from here on out.
