Not exactly Oscar worthy

  • by: Go Blue

The Ritter staff handed out awards to the republican’s best/worst one-liners of the year.

After the Yuma Republican criticized Gov. Bill Ritter’s business agenda as “a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down,” a Ritter aide gave Gardner a Mary Poppins-style umbrella Wednesday.

Ritter is taking notes of the republicans “personal attacks” on his agenda, which apparently he also finds comical http://www.coloradop… as he reminds Gardner of Penry’s ever insightful comments.

“First (Sen. Josh) Penry calls our renewable energy plan ‘Buzz Lightyear,’ then you call our eco-devo package a ‘spoonful of sugar’ – glad to know you guys are taking your policy cues from Walt Disney.”

Gardner said he thought the retort was “absolutely hilarious.”
“As long as nobody gets personal,” he said.

Gardner (Mary Poppins), Penry (Buzz Lightyear) and the republicans (Pirates of the Caribbean?) really need to come up with better talking points http://www.coloradop… since their personal attacks invoking Unions and Disney Movies are not working http://www.coloradop… unless of course they are trying to be comedians and do not want to be taken seriously. And if that’s the case, you guys should try out for “Last comic standing” and stop wasting taxpayer money.

  1. Ritter’s economic plan cuts red tape

“The seven-point economic development package proposed by Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter does a lot more to cut red tape than it does to cut taxes. That’s exactly as it should be.

In fact, the Ritter plan is so logical – and overdue – that Capitol Republicans were reduced to recycling their dislike of Ritter’s property tax freeze to conceal the embarrassing fact that they failed to adopt the same affordable pro-business policies during the long years when they monopolized power in the statehouse.”

    How very embarrassing.
