On October 3rd, I will be moderating a Town Hall-style event here in Denver on the Real ID Act and the federal government’s assault on our privacy. The event is sponsored by the Colorado ACLU, and will feature representatives from the Independence Institute, the Cato Institute and the security industry. You can find all the details about the event here.
As some background, the debate over privacy is a very serious state issue. When I lived up in Montana and worked with the legislators up there through my work with the Progressive States Network, the legislature passed a bill rejecting the federal government’s Real ID mandates. As you can see from the makeup of the panel and the vote up in Montana, this is really a nonpartisan issue – one that forges left-right coalitions. So if you are in the Denver area on 10/3, I hope to see you at the event.
