Democrats Work and Denver City Council Member Paul Lopez are going to be meeting on Sunday with Paul’s neighbors and Democrats from around the Denver area to remove graffiti and clean trash from the Barnum neighborhood.
I joined a couple weekends ago when Polis, Shafroth, and Fitz-Gerald all pitched in on a park project in Broomfield, and was hooked. (pics here)
I am now an official part of the team because I love any approach to building the grass roots that involves getting out in the actual grass, alleyways, and neighborhoods.
Sure, we need to work to elect people who will represent us in government. To build the communities we want, however, we need to roll up our sleeves and get to work ourselves. This is a great opportunity to make both political and practical change.
