Blue Goes Green - Democrats in Denver to Plant Trees in Villa Park on Saturday

Cross-posted

We’re back with more community service fun!

Please join dozens of Democratic volunteers this Saturday to plant over 50 trees in the Villa Park neighborhood this “growing” effort to engage Colorado Democrats in community service.  Your friends at Democrats Work are partnering with the Denver Dems and the Colorado and Denver Young Democrats to mobilize volunteers to plant trees in support of the “Mile High Million” program – Mayor Hickenlooper’s tree planting initiative that will add one million new trees in the metropolitan area by the year 2025.

Details here and after the jump.  Please RSVP so we can tell Parks and Rec how many folks to expect.

Volunteers will gather at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25 in Barnum North Park, in the parking lot next to the ball field.  (The parking lot is just off W. 8th Ave., just west of Federal Blvd.)

Free t-shirts for the first 20 to RSVP.  Of course, if you were in Broomfield last Sunday, you should already have one!

Parks and Rec will supply the trees and foresters who will guide Saturday’s planting.  In previous weeks Democratic volunteers canvassed the Villa Park neighborhood with The Park People, enlisting residents to care for the trees once they are planted.
