Calling on all Patriots, time to Boycott Rupert Murdoch and FOX News

In this time in America’s history, there has never been a more important moment for all true Patriots of this country to join together in protecting our democracy and freedom.
When you consider the fact that Rupert Murdoch, a foreign born Australian, has now taken over the Wall Street Journal and is the single largest owner of media in our country and in the world, you have to look at he has done with this influence.

Look at the Iraq war. Now that we know that this has been the worst foreign policy blunder of our generation, let’s look at who was promoting it. Of 175 newspapers that Rupert Murdoch owns, all 175 editorialized in favor of the Iraq war in 2003. If you are a democrat, you know why you don’t like FOX, but if you are a republican, consider how low the republican name has been brought by this war, and by the people who promoted it.
This much ownership and influence is unhealthy for our democracy and must be refuted by all true patriots.
John Edwards on Murdoch in the current Businessweek.(thanks cosbo)

My point all along was that having Rupert Murdoch [run] every newspaper in the country or having a small group of people control America’s media outlets is not healthy. It’s not good for democracy, and it’s not good for divergent and dissenting voices to be heard. I absolutely believe that consolidation of the media is not healthy for America, and I think….the next President of the United States has a responsibility to try to maintain a divergent group of voices in the media.

Kudos to Edwards for this statement and to Barack Obama for Freezing out FOX.

Join the boycott here today.

Let’s make Murdoch a dirty word.

  1. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.  If you don’t like a Murdoch owned newspaper, don’t subscribe. You have NBC, CBS, ABC, CNBC, MSNBC, PBS, CNN, The New York Times, LA Times, to name a few, all of which could at minimum be said to be fair to your particular philosophies. So “true patriots” should boycott Fox News and Murdoch owned newspapers?  Please!  I’ll wave a flag while watching the Simpsons if that helps. Rupurt Murdoch is the equivalent to the Left that George Soros is to the Right, the foreign born, rich, influential bogey man.

    1. You cant, in all seriousness, equate Murdoch with Soros. For that matter, you can not seriously equate any of the aforementioned television and print news outlets with Fox News. One of their so-called Middle East Specialist believes that us invading is good in that it will help bring about the apocalypse. That is supposed to be someone who is an authority?

Fox “News” purports to be a news outlet. I think every other news program you listed, with the exception of PBS, is absolute crap, but at least they present stories that are not so blinded by ideological fervor. PBS is above reproach in my opinion. Frontline, News Hour, etc. are what news programs should be.

New York Times, LA Times, Washington Post, and the soon to be ridiculous (if history provides us with any perspective) Wall Street Journal are all quality papers. You want to talk editorial content, which may favor my particular flavor of politics (Not WSJ), fine, but they provide in depth, high quality reporting. That is something you will never find on a fox news broadcast.

George Soros is a billionaire investor. Rupert Murdoch is a media mogul. Soros helps finance Democratic causes Rupert  Murdoch not only helps finance republican causes, but has also dedicated portions of his media empire to vitriolic ad homs against democrats, not to mention out and out lies presented as truth.

I will agree that Soros is a bogey man for the right. By bogey man I mean a figment of imagination that is meant to scare people, while in reality being a person whose sphere of influence is dwarfed by a man who has dedicated a vast majority of his business into creating a rightwing echo chamber.

Finally, I dont watch it, but that doesnt mean that I or Wade or anybody shouldnt be up in arms about Fox News or Murdoch in general. Ignoring a problem, and fox news can rightly be called a problem, is not going to make it go away.
