  1. Darcy Schoening arrested for theft at 32 years old.  Seems likely this is the same Darcy Schoening as the nutbag that’s been shrieking around here about the things she hates and fears.  Is her arrest in common public knowledge?

Now, I’m not one to condemn folks for their past struggles (within limits), but there seems to be a thread among the crop of really obnoxious prominent (female) MAGAts who are pointing fingers at every one except themselves in the most strident possible ways.

There are of course also male leadership MAGAts who point and shriek hypocritically as well. What interests me is the differences: the males tend to focus their hypocrisy around male homosexuality, adultery, and general depravity (ie drugs and alcohol fueled binges).  These Boebert/MTG headcases seem most interested in covering up their trailer trash past through overcompensation, along with obsessive fears for school based issues around gender.

So, naturally, if the MAGAts are shrieking about gender, we should be looking closer at their own conduct….

Latest Hamilton County Jail Booking Report – And Mug Shots

    1. Date of arrest was in 2014, in Hamilton County, TN. “Our” Darcy Schoening went to school in Tennessee. Probably the same Darcy Schoening; mug shot picture could be her at 32. It's possible that the records were sealed, since it has been more than seven years ago.

Yes,  if that was her, she should disclose that she had been arrested and what the outcome was. Did she pay a fine / restitution, do community service, time in prison? It would undercut her narrative that all immigrants are on a crime spree.

  2. Speaking of positives, Happy Birthday to this national treasure. The Redheaded Stranger turns 91 today and has a full slate of concerts set for the year!

  3. I didn't recognize Elbert Hubbard… so took a look

I liked that he was known for many things. But one of his main outlets

Hubbard edited and publishedThe Philistine—A Periodical of Protest …. The Philistine was bound in brown butcher paper and featuring largely satire and whimsy. (Hubbard himself quipped that the cover was butcher paper because: "There is meat inside."

  4. The U.S. 50 bridge closure west of Gunnison has me thinking of how many mountain communities are unaffordable for normal people but the communities are ok with that cuz those normal folks can just live in a relatively close affordable place that is just a bridge or mountain pass away from the community.

  5. Often on political forums we like to highlight people who outrage us, but this morning I came across 2 people who make me feel a small bit of hope. It would be REALLY NICE if our political processes encouraged folks like Donie O’Sullivan and K. Denise Rucker Krepp to represent us:

Misinformation has created an alternative world for some Americans (interview with Sullivan)

Opinion: My family lost the Civil War. Last year they finally lost this symbol of power (Opinion piece by Rucker Krepp)

  6. It's so hard to talk about what's going on in Israel/Gaza. Josh Marshall tries to give a framework,.

But the reality is that these conversations, often harrowing and angry, are simply diversions from anything that creates a path forward from the terrible present. There are two national communities deeply embedded in the land. Neither is going anywhere even though there are substantial proportions of both communities who want that to happen to the other one. There’s no way to build something sustainable and dignified without both peoples having a state in which they have self-determination and citizenship. That’s the only plausible endpoint where violence doesn’t remain an ever-present reality. How you get there is another story. And yes, if you think one unified state makes sense, God bless you. If you can get majorities of both groups to agree to that, fine. I don’t live there. If that’s what they want, great. That’s almost certainly never going to be the case. And it’s a failed state in the making.

But none of these arguments about 1948 or 1967 or indigeneity or “settler colonialism” really impact or have anything to do with getting to some two state/partition end point. And no I’m not saying for a moment that that will be easy to get to. It seems terribly far off at the moment. But fantasies and alternative histories won’t get us there.

Oslo gets a bad name today. And perhaps that’s fair since it failed. And failure is a bad thing. But we shouldn’t ignore the irony that we have spent the last six month in the grip of Hamas and Benjamin Netanyahu. And if you look back at the period from 1993 to 1996, there are two players who destroyed Oslo, as a matter of strategy and design. Netanyahu and Hamas. They both saw it as in their interests to kill it and they did kill it. You can question the good faith of the key actors of both sides of Oslo. But those two are the ones who set out to kill it and did kill it. They have always been, in effect, allies.
