We referenced HD-1 in our post about Big Line changes, and it is a good example of how Republicans are turning their attention to the state House in an effort to avoid losing everything in November (since the Senate and the governor’s mansion seem out of reach).
Located in Southwest Denver, HD-1 has been in Democratic hands for years (Rep. Fran Coleman is term limited) but could soon switch parties. Republican Aimee Rathburn has been walking precincts since January, and Democrat Jeanne Labuda was the primary winner that Republicans were hoping for (she beat Alfredo Hernandez in August for the nomination).
Republicans last week accused Labuda of accepting illegal contributions, one of several finance errors her campaign has made, and they think that Rathburn can beat her on the issues. Republicans are now starting to spend more money in HD-1 in hopes that a victory here can offset potential losses in some of the targeted House races (HD-23, HD-29 and HD-50).

What are the other campaign finance errors Labuda has made? Can we have more details about the illegal contributions she is accused of accepting? How much? By whom? Labuda is a lawyer; How could she and her campaign be so ignorant of campaign law?
