Overall, we’ve got to call this a good outing for Gov. John Hickenlooper on CNN’s State of the Union with Candy Crowley yesterday. Beginning with a detailed and convincing round of praise for President Barack Obama and his decision last week to support same-sex marriage, Hickenlooper does a great job explaining the issues around the special session of the legislature he called, broad support for civil unions in Colorado, and as close as Hickenlooper ever gets to criticizing GOP Speaker Frank McNulty publicly.
It’s an interview that won’t lend itself to McNulty’s desired spin.

As a sometimes critic, it’s only fair I say so when you do Colorado proud.
his newfound clarity is because he has lightened up on drinking the fracing fluid?
I’m w/you on this one. Even though his O&G policies suck, he did good this time.
I guess Hick has finally decided to get off the fence. Since he’s a fellow Democrat, I have to wonder why this took so long?
And like most Democrats, Gov. Hickenlooper is an individual who has weighed the issue for himself rather than blindly following some party doctrine? Just a thought.
just prompts…
That is, a side that is willing to grab the media, speak out about his values, and work with his constituency to fight for the things we care about. This bolder, louder, clearer, more visionary Hickenlooper is the leader we really need for the long haul in Colorado. I hope he’s here to stay.
Thank you, Governor.
