Bill Clinton, Bono Do Lunch In Denver

Perhaps not an everyday thing, but the Denver Post’s Lynn Bartels reports on a famous couple who broke bread in Denver’s trendy Uptown neighborhood yesterday:

Lunch visitors to the Humboldt restaurant today did a double take when they saw former President Clinton dining with Bono.

Among those lucky enough to be there and talk to the pair: Rep. Diana DeGette. The Denver congresswoman was catching up with the head of a nonprofit over lunch when the two celebrities walked in.

Clinton is in town for the Clinton Global Initiative, which started Monday at the Sheraton in downtown Denver. Bono is a singer with U2, which performed at the Pepsi Center Saturday.

Former President Bill Clinton and Bono are by all accounts good friends, to the extent that they each do pretty good impressions of the other. Clinton will give an address today at the Clinton Global Initiative’s CGI America 2015 conference. Bono’s performances with U2 this past weekend were reportedly very good, supporting their album Songs of Innocence that suddenly appeared on your iPhone last fall.

What is it with superstars and liberal ex-presidents, anyway? Why don’t Republicans get to hang with A-List celebrities? Don’t get us wrong, they’ll always have Michael Martin Murphey.
