When Sen. John McCain came to Colorado last week, he proved one more time that he doesn’t understand Colorado or the issues we care about. To put it simply, he’s missing the boat on water.
Talking to the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper, McCain said the Colorado River Compact “obviously needs to be renegotiated.” (Pueblo Chieftain, Aug. 15) He wants to take water from Colorado to deliver more to his home state of Arizona.
Senator Ken Salazar wasted no time responding. “Over my dead body,” he said. What McCain proposed flies in the face of decades of hard-won negotiations, which resulted in an agreement reached just last year that protects Colorado’s water rights from exploding sprawl in downstream states like Arizona.
The Denver Post denounced McCain’s attack on Colorado’s water rights, saying “McCain’s comments were…not only political poison in Colorado, they displayed a disturbing ignorance of the realities of the West’s scarce water resources. To say Westerners are disappointed in McCain would be an understatement.” (Denver Post, Aug. 19)

that you’re going to continue your campaign to protect our water rights.
We not only have to fend off one Beltway Republican, but we have to make sure Republicans in Colorado don’t drain our water as well!
Unfortunately, the initiative to divert severance tax money from water projects to I-70 qualified for the ballot. It’s Amendment 52. Vote early, vote often, vote no.
Between the water grab from the Western Slope and the oil grab from Kurdistan, he definitely “carries water” for corporations.
Not exactly a sexy, media grabbing subject. But if nothing else, just bringing it up in such a casual way suggests he doesn’t understand the voters in Colorado. A swing state.
How does “Alan” get his diaries promoted immediately before anyone’s even read them? Does he have the Schwartz?
Of course it might be the email I sent to the Guvs letting them know I posted this and kindly requesting a promote, but it’s probably better for you to ignore that and start working on the scandalous flowchart–it all traces back to the George Soros hive-mind eventually.
I would suggest that maybe instead of your diversional whining you try to compete qualitatively some way, but I’ve seen Brad Jones’ attempts at using Photoshop. Don’t bother.
I’m a Republican. Therefore, I have little or no artistic skill related to Photoshop.
THat face McCain made that gets used in everything is awesome. I wonder what he was doing?
It’s probably not respectful to the Senator to imagine what’s going on in this photo. Note that he’s from the generation that used the term “jimmies.” (shudder)
Why can’t Republicans use Photoshop? Wadhams just apparently hasn’t budgeted for the skill–hopefully he doesn’t take it out of your salary, payaso.
…should be based on who photographs best? My land, if that’s the standard, we need a more comprehensive, American Idol-like search. The primaries were ill-suited for giving us the beautiful people.
The key to getting promoted is to write a diary that is compelling – left, right , or off the wall – but interesting and logical.
…he really looks like McPopeye in that photoshop.
Clearly, the technology of the bendy straw eludes him. Perhaps a crazy straw would be more in-line with his “pay-grade”.
a solid-gold crazy straw.
a REAL photo of mcSame.

…everyone knows that John McCain doesn’t speak for the John McCain campaign.
for a John McCain presidency? If he’s out of his own campaign’s loop would he been in a McCain admnistration loop? Does he care? He said in his own 2002 book “Worth Fighting For” that the reason he wanted to run for President was purely personal ambition.
“I didn’t decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. I was 62 years old when I made the decision, and I thought it was my one shot at the prize.”
One President wih no interest in anything but the title and perks has been quite enough.
he was for it before he was against it. Ahh, I got it now.
