Obama plans to quickly veto Keystone http://www.politicususa.com/2015/02/23/president-obama-plans-quickly-veto-keystone-xl-bill.html
Mission accomplished. Bill is dead. All that hard work that Yertle's Senate Republicans put in to get this point. Oh, the horror, the horror. They would have been better off spending their first six weeks repealing Obamacare.
Hey – now that Republicans are in charge of both chambers of Congress, they are showing that they know how to govern. That means being able to debate not only the Keystone bill, but also Obamacare repeal bills, bills limiting womens' health options, and bills to override Obama's executive order on immigration.
Of course, they can't even get some of those things past their own majority, can't get enough votes on others to gain cloture in the Senate, and don't have enough votes on the rest to overcome Presidential vetoes that they've been warned are at the end of the (very bumpy, still not well-maintained) legislative road.
But damn this is a functional Congress that knows how to govern!
In case anyone has missed this it's astounding enough for a second post. This guy knows less about human anatomy than anybody in my 6th grade class would have back in the 60s. He really must think babies come from mommies' tummies.

My God, he makes Vicky Marble look smart.
Makes a good case for the need for at least rudimentary mandatory sex ed though, doesn't he?
The less people know about sex, the less they feel they need to know about sex – and the less control they have over it. It's all good in Republican-land.
Wonder if he has any children, since he can't tell an anus from a vagina.
Sometimes I can't tell the difference between an anus from an Idaho Republican legislator.
Once in a while Denver City Council gets something right.

I'm especially proud of Paul Lopez, my Council Member, who instigated and worked hard for this. Now all we need is a City Attorney who will hold the police and sheriffs accountable. I won't hold my breath. At a Denver HD meeting last week, Michael Carrigan dodged the issue when asked personally about it. Beth McCann did allude to it during her brief address.
What's with Jeanne Faatz, who abstained last week and was a no-show last night?
It should read Denver District Attorney instead of City Attorney. Two different offices.

We like Hick. Not so sure about Bennet.
Just as I've suspected, those poll numbers say Bennet hasn't made much of a name rec dent for a Senator. The numbers suggest a lot of people answered "no clue who he is" and many of those with an opinion probably based it on the D with his name, one way or he other.
I'm not one of those who thinks Bennet is the Dem anti-Christ but it sure doesn't seem like he's been very engaged with Colorado or that Colorado has been very engaged with him. Hope he's not counting entirely on 2016 being a presidential year to keep his seat. Much as I don't much care about him personally getting reelected, I very much care but Dems losing the seat. Maybe he could get appointed to something before election time so the Gov could appoint someone to fill the seat and run in 2016? someone who would excite a modicum of Dem enthusiasm? That would be my recommendation.
I like that idea. But what could he be appointed to? Obama only has two years left so he wouldn't want a cabinet appointment.
Please somebody think of something.
Ambassador to Wall Street??
I'm tiring of the emails from his campaign complaining about the Koch money in politics after he voted for the Keystone, and against closing the "Halliburton Loophole" in the Clean Water Act – neither vote made me happy – and both of those votes are bought-and-paid-for by the Fossilonians.
I think I share the same sentiment as most voters: we hate hypocrisy. I hate/hated it with Gardner, too, but it's not/never surprising after being purchased for $70 million by the Kochs – a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do. Like BlueCat, I'm personally interested in a progressive holding that seat; I don't think that's a given if the trajectory of his voting record stays on its present course (and yes, I realize he's not a progressive).
I like Michael personally and he's been good on the industrial hemp issue; I wish he'd take a stronger stance on removing all cannabis from Schedule 1. 58% of Coloradans support our legalization efforts; I just don't understand why Dems running for statewide office can't grow a pair on this issue.
Apparently O'Really has been so nice about Williams because of all the stuff he figured was going to erupt out of his own past. The lying goes way back but I don't expect Fox to be concerned at all, much less have him take a leave of absence. It's not as if what they do is in any way related to professional journalism. Here's a whopper that goes back to the Kennedy assassination:

Fox concerned? Nah! They're not gonna' sweat it if a few pesky details slip the memory of a four-time, purple-hearted decorated veteran who sustained grevious injuries meritoriously serving this great country during dozens of front-line actions fighting the Big One — the war on Christmas!!
