Perhaps our glorious president is thinking of anthracite coal, which, as coal goes, is relatively clean burning.
The main deposits of anthracite in the US historically are in NE Pennsylvania, although it was also mined around Crested Butte. The mines in PA are mostly played out now.
I doubt, however, that he is smart enough to know the difference between the hard anthracite and soft bituminous like what comes from current mining back east; in CO; and in WY.
