  1. "You don't have to be straight to shoot straight."

    Barry Goldwater

Goldwater (who ranked as a major general in the Air Force) was advocating for the participation of gays and lesbians in the military in the 1980's. After his retirement from the Senate, he worked for gay and lesbian rights groups to help end discrimination in Arizona.

Goldwater was also instrumental in pushing for the desegregation of the armed forces after WW2.

        1. Glad to know Montana has a real First Amendment champion representing them.

Did you like him assaulting a reporter like all the other fascists in your party do, Carnholio?

        1. One might think that with that concentration in power we'd be seeing so much winning that even your side would be exhausted some 120-ish days in.  We're all exhausted, just not for the reasons we thought we'd be.

I think I'll spend the remainder of the day imagining you in drag.

          1. Michael:

The feature of our government that is underappreciated by everyone is the built in resistance to change, sometimes referred to as gridlock.  It was created by the founding fathers to be a check and if you are trying to change things it becomes very difficult.  To the extent that the executive has been able to end run it by executive orders they get reversed rather rapidly.  The serious stuff takes ages.

        2. Yep … Republican President, Senate and House … who still can't pass a budget with any of the Republican platform priorities, pass "day one" repeal and replace ACA legislation, or have a coherent tax policy to guide implementation.

Just curious … If the Republicans DO pass a budget like Trump proposes and get the tax "reforms" they say they want, do you think the national debt will rise more than or less than $1.5 trillion? And will Republicans be happy by the accomplishment?

  2. Twenty seven leaders of the Free World watched in acute embarrassment Thursday as our minority president rudely shoved others aside before giving a rambling speech during which he forgot to mention, still less affirm, the collective security principle upon which NATO is founded.

    Once again, Trump stinks.

    Stay upwind, my friends.

      1. If the guy did something serious to the reporter like killed him, drove him into a lake and left him there to drown, he would never be elected, right Ted?

        1. Be aware, our resident lickspittle has utterly run out of ways to defend Trump and his thugs.  He is now reduced to arguing that Ted Kennedy had an auto accident 45 years ago, so all Republicans are now entitled to break any law without punishment or criticism.   Way to be current, Noodledick!  And you still haven't told us how your mom's court hearing turned out.

      2. Now, now. There's nothing in the Constitution that precludes a violent sociopathic ragemonkey from serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Then again, there's nothing in the Constitution that precludes the rest of us from expelling from the union a state in which the electorate votes by a fairly comfortable margin to send a violent sociopathic ragemonkey to Congress. From our standpoint, it's just self defense.

              1. Whatever prunie.  I inferred that a candidate for office couldn't answer a fair question and beat up a reporter who did not lay a finger on him.  Which can be interpreted as intimidation of the press.  Implying he does not respect freedom of the press.  Yet he was running for office where upholding the constitution is integral.  Also integral, is taking questions from "rude" reporters.  Said reporter was doing his job. Like it or not.

                  1. Why are you worried about the press? They don't do there job now.

…and you said there when you should have said their.  I think you're more than even.

                1. PP is so good at side-stepping that he is channeling a dance combo of Fred Astaire and Michael Jackson. Moonwalk anyone?
