President Bush will announce a nominee for the Supreme Court tonight in an address to the nation at 7:00 p.m.
According to the Associated Press:
One list that circulated was top-heavy with the names of women. Judge Edith Clement of the U.S. Court of Appeals in New Orleans was among them.
Another female candidate thought to have been under consideration was Edith Hollan Jones, who also serves on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.
Speculation today is that Clement will be the nominee, which will spark a new round of debate among conservatives in Colorado. Clement is not thought to be a strong advocate to overturn Roe v. Wade, which might speed the nomination process with Democrats but also put Colorado conservative Republican representatives in a tough spot.
