Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Holtzman announced today that he had raised a total of $802,600 in the first two quarters of 2005. Holtzman did not immediately release his Q2 fundraising, likely because that figure is slightly less than the figure reported by Congressman Bob Beauprez during the same period.
Holtzman reported raising $412,580 in Q1, but didn’t quite match that figure in Q2. We followed up with his campaign staff, and Holtzman raised about $390,020 in Q2.
So, while Holtzman didn’t outraise Beauprez for the quarter, by staying almost even he still has double the campaign coffers of his Republican opponent.
Holtzman himself didn’t comment in the press release, though he didn’t comment on fundraising in his first release, either:
“Marc is humbled and elated by the support the campaign has received from a wide variety of Colorado leaders,” said Holtzman Campaign Co-Chairman and former Aurora Mayor Paul Tauer. Added Tauer, “Marcs continued momentum demonstrates Coloradans desire for the kind of fresh energy and innovative leadership Marc will bring to the Governorship.”
Despite the possible entry of other candidates in the field, the Holtzman campaign has continued its impressive fundraising pace. “To the best of our knowledge, no other Colorado political candidate has ever raised this amount of funding this early. With the donation restrictions of Amendment 27, these figures are a good demonstration of Marcs broad, statewide support,” noted Holtzman Campaign Director Dirk Hallen.
