Last week we discussed Matt Smith’s candidacy for state senate district 7, and lately we’ve been hearing more rumors about a potential primary opponent in State Representative Josh “The Undertaker” Penry (seriously, check out this picture).
We hear that if Penry decides to challenge Smith, many Republican leaders, with Governor Bill Owens and Senator Wayne Allard among them, would openly back Penry over Smith. Owens’ endorsement hasn’t exactly been the golden ticket to success lately, but in a state senate race it would carry a lot more weight.
