Lowdown from the State GOP Convention

  • by: Colorado Pols

While Dick Wadhams was re-elected as chairman of the state Republican Party, Republicans are still lining up left and right for top elected offices. Several candidates for statewide office were allowed to speak at the state GOP dinner over the weekend; the full list is below…

The following people spoke about potential candidacies for statewide office at the Republican Party dinner over the weekend. These certainly aren’t the only candidates considering a run at higher office–these are just the candidates who spoke out to the GOP faithful.

GOVERNOR

1. Some dude named Dan Maes

2. Brian watson, CEO of Northstar Commercial Properties and a pet project of Bill Armstrong.

U.S. SENATES

1. Shock jock Dan “I’m Always Considering Running for Senate” Caplis

2. Cleve Tidwell, who told the crowd he’s announcing in three weeks. Of course, Cleve also once said he was running for Governor. And, of course, nobody knows who Cleve is.

3. Aurora City Council Member Ryan “Down Goes” Frazier

4. Weld County District Attorney Ken “I Love Mexican Food” Buck.

SECRETARY OF STATE

1. Already filed and announced candidate Scott Gessler

2. Nancy Doty

STATE TREASURER

1. Announced candidate Walker Roberts Stapleton

2. King of the bad press Muhammad Ali Hasan

3. J.J. Ament

  1. What was the biggest snafu of 2006? When Beauprez decided to GIVE UP a Congressional seat for a chance at Governor.  Because then we lost both.

But it looks like we haven’t learned our lesson; YET AGAIN we have candidates who are giving up one seat with the hope of earning another.  Clue to those not term-limited: save your arrows and earn more badges. 2010 isn’t going to be the cake-walk you’ve been led to believe.

      1. 3. Aurora City Council Member Ryan “Down Goes” Frazier

        4. Weld County District Attorney Ken “I Love Mexican Food” Buck.

Why would Frazier and Buck get to keep these positions?  Term limits?  Off years?  I’m seriously asking.

            1. The answers to the questions you’ll have later this evening are: 1) Tom Tancredo 2) in the Parlour 3) with the Pipe Wrench. Hope that clears everything up!
