For all you Andrew fans around here…….what actually happened is that the US chose to abstain on a UN Security Council resolution, introduced by our staunch ally New Zealand, calling upon Israel to stop building settlements on the West Bank. Israel has been illegally evicting local residents for years in favor of settlement construction that favors far right wing religious zealots.

And the resolution passed 14-0, indicating the other 4 permanent members with veto power and all 10 of the rotating members voted for it.

This is actually a step towards peace and the ever-elusive two state solution, as it does not condone the continued bulldozing of Palestinian homes and lands and the continued expansion of the apartheid state. It makes Nikki Haley's job easier.
