“Free speech is one of the hallmarks of our republic. If people are afraid to say what they think based on fear of reprisal … that’s not free speech.”

  1. Far right & non-conservative religious loonies won today in North Carolina as the State Senate failed to repeal HB 2. Senate Republicans are now blaming the Governor-elect and Senate Dems for the failure.

For Andrew Carnegie and Moderatus, let's not forget that for all your posturing about Hillary's sour grapes, you two own this crap show in North Carolina. And I can't wait to see you two drooling when Tim Neville introduces his usual ban-all- abortions bill next month in the Colorado Legislature.

    1. So the boycotts continue. Just how much in lost business is their self-righteousness worth to them, I wonder? They must know this law is going to be challenged- and overturned in court, costing the state many thousands more in legal fees since it's loser pays. It pleases me to know that the attorneys for the plaintiffs will use the decision in Colorado's Amendment 2 case to overturn North Carolina's House Bill 2. There's something about that number…

  2. Elections have consequences.  This could be one of them:

People like John Noonan, a Republican national security expert who advised former GOP presidential candidates Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney, were left to argue that Trump’s propensity to lash out against anyone who criticizes him would not mix well with weapons of mass destruction.

    14. But imagine having to turn launch keys not knowing if we were under attack or if it was b/c foreign leader said a mean thing on twitter

Trump’s latest remarks come amid a broader debate about a possible new nuclear arms race ― one that some fear could spiral into a nuclear war.

ACHole and Moddy are not worried, of course.  There's good money in government contracts given to loyal supporters of GOP causes.

    1. Davie:

      Elections do have consequences.

      Israel is thankful for that.

Pajama boy President was about to sell out the Israelis in the UN and Trump came to the rescue.

  3. Freedom Concert: Inauguration Day, January 20, 2017

All of these great performers celebrating freedom!

Wonder who Trump got to perform at the Inaugural celebration?

The Rockettes, apparently. Now with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! Also an 80s tribute band called The Reagan Years. Wowie Zowie.

Joy Reid discusses the competing concerts:

    1. I am pretty sure I read a report somewhere that said Trump was having so much trouble booking acts ( besides Lee Greenwood and Ted Nugent) that he started inviting groups like "Jew Slaughter", from Oregon, a Detroit band called "Angry Aryans", and Californias' "SS Bootboys".

The report went on to say that the whole debacle has strained relationships between the US and Germany.. Upon hearing that Trump was trying to get Germanies' "Bloodshed" and "Legion of Thor" to perform at the "Let's Make America White Again" Inauguration Gala, she promptly cancelled their passports and was reported to say, "Let the dumbkopf try to get the Moscow Ballet, instead.  He loves Putin so much, let them dance together."

  4. "The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists." — Hannah Arendt
