It’s been a really long time since we last held one of these elections, so we’ll do nominations before the actual vote. Click below to nominate your Polster of Jan-Feb 2009. Which Polster deserves to make the ballot? Who doesn’t?
Nominations are now open…

on social discourse and philosophic flair, I nominate Steve Harvey. If one could win an award for longest posts, I don’t think any of us could (or would want to?) compete. 🙂
Instructive and educational, with an occasional zinger of a riposte, Steve raises the level of discourse (and riposte)here.
For now, we just want nominations
Don’t be such a wet blanket! 🙂
I’d also like to nominate Republican36.
too
I’d like to nominate the Josh Penry servants for their same day short lived guerilla raids. Drives the debate and exposes Penry’s foibles and muddled thinking.
“Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man.” -Bertrand Russell
I’ll take this opportunity to let my fellow Democrats know that I won’t be seeking another term as guest front page editor when my current stint ends in June.
It’s just been so dang fun that it’d be a shame to not let someone else have a shot at it. I will likely run again in December though, so don’t go congratulating me yet U.S. Term Limits.
I thought I’d let people know so they can start forming their exploratory committees and raising campaign funds. I’m looking forward to seeing the 527 ads too. I think I know who I’ll endorse as well, I’m going to wait until the time is right though.
Feel free to vote for me for this though. 🙂
You, sir, are a fine American.
of DavidThi808. I’m more John Adams to his Washington.
Excellent West Slope representation in 2009.
CT gets the extremists looking like Elmer Fudd poking their heads down dead end holes.
“In America everybody is of the opinion that he has no social superiors, since all men are equal, but he does not admit that he has no social inferiors, for, from the time of Jefferson onward, the doctrine that all men are equal applies only upwards, not downwards.” -Bertrand Russell
I’ll agree with DavidThi
for his excellent signature “quotations.”
In the words of Morrissey, “That joke isn’t funny anymore.”
Just kidding.
Some of us post and maybe attract one or two direct responses, possibly more in the followup.
And I don’t claim him to be thoughtful, intelligent, well-researched, or neutral. Or well-liked.
But he does have a knack for his timely ability to pour kerosene on the flame wars, and always seems to attract multiple impassioned responses to his delusional, badly-reasoned Ctrl+V-lifted Conservative bullshit.
In short, he does get us to post responses….
note: I have been on the road since Sunday, so limited posting through this week. clapping erupts from the peanut gallery
1st, I nominate SSG_Dan and DavidThi808. David for the interview work over the last month and his general thoughtful posts. SSG for finally getting me … its a real driver for me to get you all to respond. I love to laugh and many of you make this happen. I giggle when your heads explode, so please keep it coming.
2nd, I am thoughtful, somewhat intelligent, well reasoned, and researched enough to post here. Keep in mind, we live in a three dimensional world. So there are always two other points of view versus yours and many others within the varying degrees between all three.
Well-liked … hah … you are all too serious. Even when I don’t post, I love to watch the heads explode.
when he finally shows up to a meetup. I’m sure he’s really interesting; there always seems to be a joke of his I’m not quite getting on the blog, but I think in person his sense of humor would come across better.
Of course, he’s only interesting when he’s not talking about EFCA, but fortunately he really is finding other things to discuss. And with LB gone, he’s really the only regular Republican poster we have (Barron doesn’t count as he’s third-party, and Haners just isn’t around often enough).
I’d give him a sympathy vote. Consider this a “second” of the nomination.
In the words of Jessica Rabbit, “He makes me laugh.”
And RedGreen, for the same reason.
I was just about to nominate her.
..or was it implied?
Recently, in fact!
So, I appreciate the nomination; I may yet make good on my vow to be nice to everyone….even the stupid people! They are my favorite, after all.
🙂
…that I, Jambalaya, am experimenting with a new handle. This Bubba thing. Cuz I gotta stay fresh!
Oh wait, is switching handles against the rules?!
…I don’t like the Bubba name. It’s too androgynous. Oh well, my search continues.
cuz apparently nobody’s going to notice unless it’s a subject line.
“Oh,” you say, with your rules, “you can’t nominate two people.”
Well screw your rules, anonymous person whose quote I just made up based on totally speculative rulesmanship! I does what I wants!
for Jambalaya because almost everyone else on this site takes themselves way too seriously.
Harvey and Thielen for filling the gap with their interviews of politicians.
Twitty for keeping some fresh reporting on O&G and the western slope.
Steve Harvey, Thielen…..and I am thinking Libertad. If we are not nice to the one cnsistent conservative, we might lose him.
First off, thank you for the nice words above.
I’m out in D.C. for 4 days (at FOSE). Arrived at the hotel, walked 8 blocks to the closest Five Guys Burgers – and they closed at 10:00. This town rolls up the sidewalks real early. (I’m just across the bridge in Arlington.)
Figured I would run into Obama already but so far, no luck.
Aristotle: Solid, reasonable poster and is always ripping on ASs, uh, ass.
Catersian Doubt: Doesnt post as much as some, but when he does it is always good.
SSG_Dan: Very informative on VA issues, among others.
I log on often, but rarely post. It’s a matter of picking my points carefully, and to speak softly while wielding a sledgehammer.
I’m sure I’ll net my usual 0-1 votes… 🙂
I don’t think you’re bitchy, more like pleasant and thoughtful.
which was only one vote out of tying for first. I think that was 8 or 9 votes… It was a long time ago.
And thanks for the compliment. 🙂
Sure, he hasn’t posted recently, but he did a fair amount in February and especially January.
Of course these nominations basically rely on memory of what was said since about Thursday March 5, so I’m not sure a Jan/Feb nomination will really respect the efforts made then.
If this is considered a serious thing, do it for the most recent week or not at all, since that’s as much as anyone can remember anyway.
consistent, concise, provocative.
caterwauling shit blizzard or whatever the exact term was
