It's Obama's Bear Market

  • by: Another skeptic

Following up on a discussion we had a week or so ago about my contention that we’re in an Obama Bear Market, I’d like to point out that now almost everybody is saying the same thing. Heck, some of us were saying this last summer. See DrudgeReport.com.

Obama’s Radicalism is killing the Dow. The Wall Street Journal.

http://online.wsj.com/article/…

Obama bear market punishes investors as Dow slumps. Bloomberg.com.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/…

James Cramer: My response to the White House. Read the whole thing.

Search the web for: Obama Bear Market

In short, Obama has scare investors out of the markets, causing prices to plunge 25% so far this year.

    1. Someone’s response to similar assertions made by right-wing dimwit Ross Kaminsky, who for some reason is leaning on Cramer as a credible source or something:

From the June 22, 2008, edition of “The Chris Matthews Show”:

MATTHEWS: So the Election Day is over, the morning after election, if Obama wins, does the stock market go up?

      Mr. CRAMER: Yes.

MATTHEWS: Even though capital gains go up?

Mr. CRAMER: Absolutely. We’re sick of it.

MATTHEWS: Whoa, what a–this is news we’ve made here. Jim Cramer says the market will resound positively to an election by–of Barack Obama.

  1. It’s pretty awesome how “everyone” only includes people on your side of the aisle…ever-shrinking as it is…

What do you propose, AS?  Ending this “radicalism” for the sheer dumb fuck stupidity of the last 8 years?  I’ll take radicalism over dumb fuck stupidity any day of the week…bear market and all…

  2. You were saying that we’re in an “Obama Bear Market” since last summer?

Remarks like that are why even the people who agree with you never stand up for you.

Your contentions are always silly. There is nothing legitimate to them. So spare us, will you?

    1. After the Republican convention, McCain’s poll numbers were briefly higher than Obama’s.

The stock market started tanking right around then. Coincidence? I think not.

I think the market got so incredibly spooked by the notion that McCain might win that it still hasn’t recovered.

  3. DJIA:

    12 Oct 2007: 14,093

    10 Oct 2008: 8,451

    -40.0%

And how about the author of that WSJ editorial (note that it didn’t appear in the news part of the newspaper)

Mr. Boskin is a professor of economics at Stanford University and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution. He chaired the Council of Economic Advisers under President George H.W. Bush.

Apparently, irony isn’t in Boskin’s dictionary (nor chutzpah, nor hypocrisy).

      1. That really does say it all…

Actually, Mike is a friend of my parents.  He seems like a reasonably normal guy…until he starts talking about economics…
