(updated so RedGreen could get a reality check)
Obama Promises Union Bosses EFCA: Now this is some commitment.
Any positions that Senators Bennet or Udall had on Card Check are irrelevant as President Obama has just committed them to an AYE vote on EFCA.
That’s right folks, your Senators positions don’t matter.
The localized destruction will be cranial explosions coming from Hickenlooper, Isenberg, Ritchie, and the rest of the “business pay-off crew”. Imagine they actually believed they could find labor peace.
As tribute to the passage of Card Check, I will be volunteering at up to five (5) of the card check organizing events for anyone associated with the business-labor payoff. That means I am offering to help check’em in.
Please note: I am especially interested check’in workers at Oakwood Homes, State of Colorado, City of Denver, City of Centennial, Sage Hospitality, whatever business Ritchie runs (or has a significant economic interest in), or any company that funded the abortion I refer to as the fall 2008 Colorado Labor Boss Pay-off.
When Andy Stern talked these guys into paying him off for “labor peace” they didn’t know they had been invited to a very, very, very long-term and predetermined party.

MIAMI — President Barack Obama told AFL-CIO union leaders Tuesday in a videotaped address that the controversial Employee Free Choice Act will pass, signaling his full backing for legislation that makes union organizing easier.
“We will pass the Employee Free Choice Act,” President Obama told more than 100 top labor officials in a closed-door meeting at the labor federation’s winter gathering in Miami, according to people at the meeting.
The bill would make it easier for unions to recruit workers because it would let them join unions simply by signing cards rather than through secret-ballot elections in which companies can campaign against the union. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business organizations have been campaigning against the legislation.
The president’s remarks were taped on Feb. 20, according to a White House spokesman. Following his remarks, AFL-CIO officials held a meeting with Labor Secretary Hilda Solis.
and wait there is more……….
Separately, on Wednesday, the AFL-CIO is expected to ask the administration to take a controlling stake in banks that receive government funding and a more active role in restructuring their balance sheets. “We believe the debate over nationalization is delaying the inevitable bank restructuring, which is something our economy cannot afford,” reads a draft of an AFL-CIO statement. It is the first time the labor group has advocated such a policy, said Richard Trumka, secretary-treasurer of the AFL-CIO. Mr. Trumka, a member of the White House Economic Recovery Advisory Board, said government control would be short-lived.
The Employee Free Choice Act is expected to be introduced in the coming weeks in the Senate. AFL-CIO President John Sweeney said in an interview that to help get the bill through Congress, it could be amended in the Senate, where support is narrower, before it reaches the House. “We wouldn’t be surprised if there were attempts to amend the bill,” he said.
Organized labor plans to mobilize workers in states where support is weakest among Democratic lawmakers, lobby lawmakers directly and get companies that support the bill to endorse it publicly. Labor leaders didn’t name companies targeted in this effort. [not to worry I have some names for Mr. Sweeney]Business groups say they will intensify their lobbying against the bill as it is introduced. Randel Johnson, vice president of labor policy for the Chamber of Commerce, said the group will focus its heaviest lobbying efforts on senators in about seven states, and that an endorsement of the bill by a small number of companies “would not affect the political dynamic,” because employer opposition to the bill is “overwhelming.”
I do believe a number of banks participated in the 2008 Colorado Labor Boss Pay-off. Now ain’t that some return on your investment?
I wonder just how helpful these banks will be in providing political contributions to Senators Udall and Bennet? I see the donations really rolling in after we have a few check-in parties at their local branches or a few of their participating pay-off partners businesses.

and the block quotes make some sort of sense, but honestly, Libertad, I cannot tell what you’re saying in your introductory paragraphs.
Lib’, can you at least insert an “update” that will convey some kind of coherence to English speakers? Start with, (a) your point, and then (b) maybe a sentence or two as to why anyone should give a shit, and then (c) some kind of argument supporting your point.
for your confusing original diary?
RedGreen, why do you have so much trouble with facts?
Are you embarrassed that labors game plan for card check is public?
Are you concerned about the Presidents forced used of Sens. Bennet and Udall votes on Card Check?
Are you ashamed they are committed to card check or more ashamed they risk the ability to cast future votes as individuals?
Do you fear that labor has broken “labor peace”?
Do you fear a national move to support Right-to-Work?
Do you fear me coming to volunteer to check-in employees under Card Check at certain businesses?
What could be better to celebrate the Presidents achievement then a Card Check Party to raise union membership and enable social justice?
when so few people in elected office agree with you…
what it means for Obama to tell union officials EFCA “will pass.” Maybe Udall and Bennet will support it (my guess would be yes), and they might be part of negotiations to amend it (as in all legislation, the swing votes will hold the cards, so to speak), but a presidential endorsement doesn’t mean he’s promising the vote of every member of his party. Have you ever followed Washington politics before or is this the first time?
Bennet isn’t Obama’s employee. He’s the State of Colorado’s employee.
sounds like traditional Union Boss tactics!
you support EFCA now? Welcome aboard, L’tad!
Hey I am committed to Card Check implementation … volunteering for a Card Check check-in party at certain pay-off businesses will be fun.
I’m looking forward to a little government sanctioned thuggery too; there is union provided training beforehand, right?
it goes something like this … Approach future union shop member, present card, ask for name, look up name (and other personal info including salary level), remind future member of value (use SEIU TPs) and use personal information to evoke control, firmly handover pen, attain signature, pat on back, hand 2nd vote card, attain signature, pat on back again, then hand out tee shirt and leave pen with new member.
obtain signature?
Otherwise, sounds about right. Glad you’ve switched sides!
Obtain and Attain can be used in the same context. Attain would be used when you want to emphasize just how hard you worked to obtain the item.
You should always use ‘attain’ with member communications. It reminds them how hard you are working, regardless of weather or not you really had to work that hard.
You as fast and loose with all your facts?
Attain means reach, obtain means get. You can obtain signatures to attain your goal. Glad to hear, though, that your goal is to obtain card-check signatures. All these years on Pols, you’ve finally changed your mind about something — it’s a beautiful thing, Lib.
I guess we can confirm Libby doesn’t have an English degree…
– Go Cougars
as in … Prez Obama said Unions would obtain Card Check legislation.
I don’t care if Lib’s edumecated or not — now that he’s signed on to Card Check, I say we stop insulting the guy.
attain your English degree? You might ask for your money back.
Break a leg!
cleaning out the garden patch is more like it, but you never know. most accidents do happen around the home. thanks
You know the routine .. then find a court who will assign some liability their way.
I’m so glad you’ve decided to support the Employee Free Choice Act. You really do support the true “Right to Work”.
I have no idea what you’re saying. Did you like my effective use of Libertactics?
Are you concerned your Senator has no choice or ability to cast his vote?
What happens when some other interest group gets the President to commit … say CA, UT, AZ, KS, NM, OK, Mexico and TX on a certain issue like say WATER!
Are you embarrassed that labors game plan for card check is public?
Do you not agree that the President has committed Sens. Bennet and Udall?
Are you ashamed they are committed to card check or more ashamed they risk the ability to cast future votes as individuals?
Are you or a family member employed at a bank targeted for nationalization by the ALF-CIO?
Do you fear that labor has broken “labor peace”?
Do you fear a national move to support Right-to-Work?
The opponents of card check say that liberties are threatened if a person can privately sign. The NRA says that holders of concealed carry permits must have their privacy protected or liberty is threatened.
If one wishes to join their brethren (non-gender specific) in a union without being hassled by management and antiunion forces they ought to be able to do so.
with a secret ballot “privacy protected”, with Card Check “liberty is threatened”
That is more of the same nonsense Libertad. The employees can call for the ballot if they choose. So I guess if you keep repeating the same line of misinformation, I can keep repeating the truth.
The President is creating ground cover for any Senators who were hesitant aka scared. I’d imagine there will be a lot more cover fire for the Employee Free Choice Act in the next coming weeks.
P.S. The bill hits the House March 9th.
