Senate Republicans Waxing, and Waxing and Waxing Philisophically

The Senate Republicans go to the podium on just about every significant bill and challenge it as a threat to the people’s pocketbook, to marriage, to the American way of life, to motherhood and apple pie, etc….They do this, not just briefly, but ad nauseum on issues they cannot hope to win, and on which they cannot hope to get any significant media coverage.  If they really ever had a significant concern about any particular bill being a real threat to anything, it would be ignored by both the media and the public, because they spend every single day saying the sky is falling.  And it hasn’t fallen and it won’t fall, and all they can be are naysayers.  I do recognize that as one Democratic Senator put it, they get their say and we get our way.  But, really, what is the purpose of all this posturing.  If the press hasn’t picked it up yet they are not going to any time soon.  Today they are having the 6% solution bill in its entire 38 pages read at length.  This is just annoying on a Friday when folks want to go home.  It will not make a difference in the outcome, and it will not create bipartisan solutions.  I have my doubts about the constitutionality of SB 228, but let’s put it before the courts and get a decision.   Conservatives have so hamstrung the legislature’s ability to be fiscally responsible, that the legislature needs all the tools it can use.  If SB 228 is constitutional, let’s go for it.  But these blowhards really need to stop!  Some day when they actually have a point to make of significance, it will be lost in the frenzy of words and accusations that go on, and on, and on, and on…….

  1. .

    Know thy audience.

Old fogies (over 55) make up almost half of this community.  We don’t see that good.

Give us a paragraph break once in a while.

    please.
