And they call it a documentary so you’ll know it’s serious.
in Sarah Palin’s march to iconic status in the drag queen community.
she’s not already arrived?
We know many Democrats who aren’t liberals and many Republicans who are…
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.
John Kenneth Galbraith
A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned how to walk forward.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
And, if the show fits:
Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.
John Stuart Mill
The most radical revolutionary will become a conservative the day after the revolution.
– Hannah Arendt
…perhaps the moral outrage of a Conservative Governor taking Stimulus money. And then the moral stand of the GOP Governors of the three poorest states in the nation boldy refusing, I say REFUSING the desperately need cash his citizens.
Ignoring the sworn duty as the chief executive of a state for grandstanding political gain – playing banjo while Rome burns, if you will.
in those three poorest states keep electing their governors, then the old adage: “We get the government we deserve” applies. I don’t feel a bit of pity for them.
.
By whom ?
.
They certainly should retain the right to elect their governors, but when the governors they elect refuse assistance for their people, I don’t feel pity for them.
Schizo so early?
Reading the opinion page on the Post’s website I came across this guest editorial:

Atleast someone is trying to explain the benefit/downfall of these ideas being tossed around in the Legislature.
Thought some of you might find it interesting.
What does this mean?
It goes up! It goes down! It goes around and around?
Overall, he’s making the same statements that were made almost 20 years ago to pass this legislation, and totally ignoring the result. He then blames it all on Cary Kennedy for supporting Amendment 23 (as though it wasn’t passed by a majority of voters).
If Colorado didn’t have A-B and TABOR, we’d have the most progressive taxation regime in the county … just like California.
n/t
…so yes it has everything to do with our taxes
But you always make shit up anyway.
Ralphie’s right. A-B deals more with WHAT the legislature can spend out of the General Fund, which isn’t solely taxes. If it had to do with taxation, they wouldn’t be able to change it legislatively.
Getting the Supreme Court to nuance this one just so will be much easier then the tax hike/freeze.
Further it could set the stage for their ruling on the tax hike/freeze. Set the precedent with A-B, then rule on tax hike/freeze.
you seem a bit woozy
I have had persistent diarrhea since October when Bush caved to special interests, forced some bank acquisitions (vs bankruptcies) and forced TARP money down the throats of certain conservatively run banks.
Blood in the stool appeared about the time the boys from Detroit were handed their first round of billions in Treasury handouts. No of course we know they are back for more. Although we voted in Change and Hope, we’ve had No Change and I continue to Loose Hope.
Don’t let facts get in the way of your world view…..
I said … forced some bank acquisitions (vs bankruptcies) and forced TARP money down the throats of certain conservatively run banks.
Stating that the banks mandated this handout would assume that they were so corrupt that they knew the only way to cover their asses was to get a federal ‘partnership’ to assist in their cover-up and resulting termination of the community banking industry.
Further federal treasury printing of M1 and resulting credit transfer to private enterprise should be more strongly considered. John Dillinger must be rolling over in his grave.
A three week process of Pelosi and Reid staffs’ drafting a pork laden amendments with no oversight from the President is reckless. Clearly he was forced to sign the OINKER they shipped out.
ps what about Colorado being 49 or 50 at the porkfest.
Aren’t you concerned that Coloradans, facing a $1.6 bb series of budget shortfalls, will demand accountability when they find out they are subsidizing 48 other states? Forced to transfer wealth to other poorly run states and made to pay for the shortfalls at home — that’s not the Colorado Promise Colorado voted for my friend.

Can’t find the Rocky News endorsement for Penry for Governor – where is that? I did find their endorsement for Ritter for Gov…
Same for Grand Junction Daily Sentinel – actually, it endorsed his opponent…and scolded Penry for his anti-C stand.
Same for the Colorado Springs Gazette..

Reminds me:
Q: What’s the difference between a liberal and a conservative?
A: Fifty, sometimes a hundred years.
You see, Wether, why the Republican Party is in the continuing decline it is? When people like you continue to lie for political advantage, you are telling voters you that believe they are stupid. Josh Penry did not even get support from his home Mesa County Republican Caucus, let alone his hometown newspaper. As a matter of fact the publisher of the Daily Sentinel printed a special op-ed piece stating that if voters knew what Penry told them off the record, that they would think again about ever supporting Penry. Penry is a Richard Nixon style politician and I can’t imagine a greater danger to Colorado (including D. Bruce) than Penry. Ego driven politics is extremely dangerous.
are you talking about? what off-the-record comments?
George Orbanek’s inveigh against Penry for his “off the record” attack on Mike Saccone. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Sentinel’s archives or I would post the link. But it is legendary here. Here is the CC/CI take on it.
What are you smoking? Nobody in the Metro area has any idea who Penry is. That’s among his biggest problems.
For as much as people like to assume that coming from the Western Slope is some sort of strength, consider this: When was the last time Colorado elected a Governor or Senator (or ANY statewide elected official, for that matter) who didn’t live along the Front Range? Remember, Ken Salazar had been in Denver for a long time before he was elected. It’s been decades.
…but also, wasn’t one of Romer’s L.G.s from down-state somewhere?
Mike Callihan was from Gunnison. But the Lt. Gov. runs in the governor’s shadow, and at his or her pleasure, so it’s not quite the same as winning statewide on your own.
…but, back then, didn’t the Lt. Gov. run independently of the Gov (unlike now)? Not that anyone cared about the Lt. Gov. anyway.
sometime n the ’70s, after Dick Lamm’s No. 2 caused some mischief in the governor’s absence, but it could have been later.
…Owens didn’t like Joe Rogers anymore. See, that’s how urban legends are born!
Joe Rogers was the last independently-elected Lt. Gov., if memory serves. And I’m too lazy to google it, so please correct me if I’m wrong.
It was George Brown, the first African-American Lt. Guv.
Prior to that, there was no elected Lt. Guv. The President of the Colorado Senate acted in that capacity.
Elected to 3rd CD, then to senator. He’s from Durango.
His was a unique story, though, not easily duplicated and certainly not by somebody with a wingnut Mesa County base, like Penry.
Campbell infuriated the Democrats when he was one, and then did the same to the Republicans after he switched.
He didn’t have a standard metro base, but he appealed to people statewide. Again, unless somebody has that kind of unique background, he/she won’t be elected from the Western Slope. Not enough votes to start with.
except… he won the election!!!
On Stand Up! with Pete Dominick, he got his show rolling with a very interesting observation – where did all the Militia groups go?
This was punctuated with his views on Crazy Glenn Beck’s new show on Faux News “War Front” I won’t soil my TV with this channel, but reviews so far has it as Sedition Talk Television, with Beck’s collection of NutJob guests espousing armed revolution against the Obama Tyranny.
Pete pointed out that the Militia’s heydays were during the Clinton Years. Bush gets appointed president, and they all go away – even though the abuses of the Deserter President were exactly what they were railing about. (That, and the UN Concentration Camps in Utah that doubled as Grey Alien Landing Zones.)
Now that Obama and the Dems have won a clear majority and are in power, Pete predicts the return of the Militia Groups, all incited forward by Crazy Glenn Beck’s show.
Hate to say it, but he’s right. Probably brought to a foaming-mouthed frenzy by the fabricated truth that Obama is GOING TO TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY….
so how come I didn’t get to see Dianne Feinstein’s boobies? Didn’t David Vitter bring any beads?
(Shudder!)
