If it comes down to Former City Council Member Diggs Brown who is currently serving in Africa, or Unidersity of Colorado Board of Regents member Tom Lucero, who will you vote for.
Both are considered ‘conservative’ and have support from different people. However come election day (possible) one of them will be chosen by CD-4 Republicans to run against freshman Congresswoman Markey.
Below is some information from both their websites of why they should be elected. In Diggs’ case it is his draft movement site.
Tom Lucero

LOVELAND, CO – Today Tom J. Lucero (R-Loveland) announced that he has formed an exploratory committee to
consider a run for Congress in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District.
“I want to thank those people who have unexpectedly called and encouraged me to run. It is because of the
overwhelming support and encouragement from those who have already committed to lend support that we have
formed this committee,” stated Lucero.
Lucero currently represents the 4th Congressional District as an elected member of the University of Colorado
Board of Regents, and has been elected twice to that post in district-wide elections. Lucero was first elected in
1998 and re-elected in 2004 with 72% of the vote.
Lucero has worked tirelessly the past ten years at the University of Colorado to keep budgets in check and tuition
affordable. He has fought against cost increases in higher education that are completely out of control and has
worked towards strengthening academic standards. Lucero believes that “education is the critical foundation to
ensuring our ongoing global competitiveness.”
Having owned and operated a business, Lucero knows first-hand the challenges facing business. Lucero
appreciates the ingenuity of American business, particularly the millions of small business owners who are the
engine that power our economy.
Lucero stated, “The path out of our current economic recession is to reduce hurdles and provide incentives for
businesses and entrepreneurs to create jobs and spur real economic growth. Large-scale handouts and giveaways
of taxpayer funds will not lead to long-term economic prosperity. The people of this district, Colorado, and the
country deserve better from politicians in Washington.”

Isn’t it time we elected a hero to Congress?
Diggs Brown is a Major in the U.S. Army Special Forces. He’s on front lines in the Global War on Terror, even today protecting us from the terrorist threat. There’s no more important vote that any member of Congress can make than the one that sends our men and women into harm’s way. Diggs Brown has been there. He knows the stakes. We can count on him.
Isn’t it time we elected a Congressman who has fought for fiscal responsibility? When he’s back in Fort Collins, Diggs Brown is a member of the Fort Collins City Council. During the past four years he has worked to create jobs and reduce wasteful government spending. His landmark NoCOST government transparency initiative empowered every citizen of Fort Collins to become a fiscal watchdog, rooting out government waste.Isn’t it time we elected a Congressman who knows how to save and plan and budget for the future?
In his professional life, Diggs Brown is a financial advisor to Colorado families, small businesses, farmers and ranchers

Kind of a crappy poll, since it is widely understood that other Republicans are going to join the field. So shouldn’t you at least include an “Other”? See the Big Line in the left sidebar if you are out of the loop.
None of the above. If I was making a bet, I would say Cory Gardner. Unless Bob Schaffer decides to run, because I still think he could win the primary.
It really doesn’t matter anyway, because Betsy Markey has done a flawless job so far. If she keeps it up, she’ll be able to defend her seat easily. If that’s the case, she is going to be there for a good while.
Which freshman hasn’t done a “flawless job” thus far? I mean, it’s been a couple of weeks since she took office. Any sizeable mistake at this point would be devastating.
“Flawless job” two weeks into it is kind of a low bar, isn’t it?
But she also could have done things that were ho hum. She’s done everything right: from the agriculture committee, to pledging to fly home every weekend for town hall meetings, and then introducing estate tax reform for family farms with John Salazar. Not only has she done things, but they were positive things for the people in her district.
Obviously there’s a ton of work to be done, and she’s not going to be perfect, but she hasn’t done anything to draw the ire of anyone… even conservatives. Take a look at the announcements from Lucero and the other GOP CD-4 candidates–they’re not bashing Markey. Even with her vote on the resolution to release the bailout money, she voted with her district, rather than the liberal members of the Colorado delegation. There’s something to be said for that.
If you want to see someone who’s had a slightly rockier start, take a look at Jared Polis. He got a lot of praise from moderates and Republicans for his WSJ editorial, but the left ripped him a new one–both on DKos and here. He is in a safe Dem district, but still. He stirred up trouble. Markey is just doing her job, and doing it well in the short period that she’s been in office.
Any Republican announcing officially for her seat is doing it prematurely. My argument cuts both ways, we can’t give her too much credit for not messing up anything two weeks into her new job, but no Republican can really make the argument as to why she should be unseated because she has only been in her job for two weeks. Imagine the appeals now… “I’m (enter name here), a Republican candidate for congress because Betsy Markey…..well, she’s not a Republican and the Cook Political report rates us as a Republican district and that’s what we should have.”
Not very compelling, is it? The way I see it is that when one announces, they should have a compelling reason for doing so. Sure, lay the ground work now because we all know that Markey is going to be targeted because of the Republican nature of the district, but don’t say that you’re targeting her until you have a better reason for doing so.
And that’s why I think Tom’s announcement is going to go as far as Sherrif Anderson did in 2006. Being the first to file isn’t always a good thing if people think you’re doing it out of pure ambition.
Only Democrat to vote against his party on the first three votes of the session: Lilly Ledbetter, pay equity and S-Chip expansion.
but decided just to see what people would vote for if it was just the two of them.
