We Have a U.S. Attorney! (Sort Of)

  • by: Colorado Pols

There was a small story in The Rocky Mountain News today about acting U.S. Attorney Bill Leone being sworn in as the full-time U.S. Attorney, and we’re continually amazed at how little attention this has received. From the Rocky:

William Leone, who has served as acting U.S. attorney for Colorado since December, was sworn in as U.S. attorney Thursday because President Bush did not nominate a replacement within a legal deadline.

Senator Wayne Allard said in a Colorado Pols Q&A last month that a decision was close, but that apparently wasn’t the case. Three names were submitted by Allard to the White House back in December, and after background checks and extensive research, did they just decide that all of the nominees sucked? What’s going on here?

  1. Bush was too busy planning for his annual sleepy-time retreat to Crawford to do something difficult like nominating a US Attorney to prosecute criminals.

Congratulations to Leone, who by all accounts I’ve seen has been doing Just Fine in the position, even if Bush couldn’t be bothered to recognize his work with a simple nomination.

  2. Goes to show how much pressure the WH is under these days. Stupid not to have your ducks in a row on these kinds of appointments, especially when Gonzales was just in Denver.

  3. I’ve managed to save up roughly $30515 in my bank account, but I’m not sure if I should buy a house or not.  Do you think the market is stable or do you think that home prices will decrease by a lot?

  4. I’ve managed to save up roughly $77708 in my bank account, but I’m not sure if I should buy a house or not.  Do you think the market is stable or do you think that home prices will decrease by a lot?
