The Colorado Inaugural Ball

Everybody wanted in on the glow, as 9NEWS reports:

Nearly 1,000 people celebrated with Colorado on the eve of President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration on Monday night.

The Colorado Democratic Party hosted a party for 800 to 900 people at the Westin Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Party head Pat Waak says the party was an opportunity to celebrate all the work Democrats in Colorado did last year, from hosting the Democratic National Convention in August, to the election of Mark Udall to the Senate and Betsy Markey and Jared Polis to the House.

“We’ve all worked really hard, some of us for little or no way, because we believed in what we could do,” said Waak.

Guests at the party included all of Colorado’s Democratic leaders, including Gov. Bill Ritter, newly-elected Sen. Udall, out-going Sen. Ken Salazar, who is set to become the next Secretary of Interior, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, Polis, Markey and newly-elected Rep. Mike Coffman.

Coffman, who was Colorado’s Secretary of State, is a Republican, but still wanted to join in the celebration.

He said even those who didn’t vote for Obama should feel “hopeful.”

      1. then Coffman will get nothing done.  I think he’s a pretty smart guy.

Let Wil Armstrong and his ilk go back to writing shitty home loans.  CD-6 is better off if their congressman is effective.

        1. But getting lovey dovey with Democrats might not sit well with the party faithful.

Granted, Coffman probably doesn’t want to become the next Lamborn, but he has to be careful about how much sucking up he does to the new Prez.

          1. The “party faithful” is so completely marginalized right now I think Coffman can demonstrate a little leadership by saying OK right now we have to work with the Dems.

You may be right about the repudiation thing, but being another Lamborn helps no one.

  1. about bridge building, he will have plenty of reception and support from all but the most partisan R’s.

If instead, he intends to represent the more extreme R’s of CD6 and build his re-election on some popular but ultimately useless windmill tilt, we’ll we’ve seen that in very recent history.
