    Burris claims he’d want to run for reelection, but he’s 71 already.

    Some will say Blagojevich shouldn’t do anything, but honestly I think we’re going to need as many Democratic Senators as we can get before inauguration day. We need 60 votes for cloture, and lately we’ve been losing cloture votes due to absences, not Republican solidarity.

    1. was a very good public servant in Illinois.  He has never been tainted by any hint of scandal.

      Even though he has lost several primary races of late, he is respected by both sides of the aisle in Illinois.

      Having said that, I doubt that he will hold the seat in ’10…he’ll likely be primaried and lose again….

  2. Mike Shanahan, the second longest-tenured NFL coach, was fired by the Denver Broncos on Tuesday after the team lost a three-game lead with three games to go in the AFC West. Shanahan, 56, coached the Broncos since 1995, behind only Tennessee’s Jeff Fisher in tenure with one team. He led the Broncos to consecutive Super Bowl victories in 1998 and 1999 and compiled a record of 146-89 with the team
