“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

Who will be the new Ways and Means Committee Chair?
Will Ed Perlmutter seek to move to another Committee?
John Salazar’s chances of getting on Appropriations are improved by the presence of Jared Polis on the Steering Committee. Salazar supported Polis. It is still a long shot but without Polis on the Steering Committee he had no shot.
that Rangle will go anywhere. The last thing the leadership wants is the CBC crying bloody murder over what is a reasonably small financial matter the Chairman is dealing with.
Pete Stark, the next guy in line to be chair, and Pelosi aren’t all that close despite the fact they’re both from NorCal. If she wants Rangle out, it would set off a major shit throwing contest between Stark, Sander Levin, Jim McDermott, and John Lewis. Add that to the CBC being mad at Pelosi and I don’t see her moving to out Rangle…yet…
And Salazar is definitely a long shot to get on approps. Even if the R/D ratio changes this session, unless I’m forgetting something, only 1 Dem is leaving the committee. There will probably only be 2, maybe 3 openings and there are more vulnerable members the steering committee might want to “protect” by putting them on the committee.
It has been one minor scandal after another for Charlie Rangel. Maybe bumping John Lewis to Chair ahead of the more senior members Stark, McDermott and Levin might be the solution. Regardless Rangel is not going to remain as the Chair of that Committee no matter how hard the CBC complains.
Ok, when I first came across the Russian music videos on YouTube I thought they were nice but no big deal. But this one goot me hooked on the genre (no idea why).
And it look like it’s the guy making it home for Thanksgiving – so it’s appropiate for the day too.
Did he Rickroll the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade
And no one went to the hospital. Chalk it up as a win.

How bad can that be?
I know most are still acting as though gas is $4 a gallon, but…
I’d be very happy if people would remember that this is important, not just for our wallets.

Imagine if those responsible for counter-terrorism in this country had resigned after 9/11? If it had happened under FDR or LBJ they would have been out instantly. But under Bush – nothing.
resigned over Pearl Harbor?
And a number of others over the next several months.
Especially Kimmel.
Stark was reassigned to a lower job (I think) even though he was more responsible as he had access to the raw intelligence
Kimmel was not running Pearl as though a war was about to start. Yet he had plenty of actionable intelligence that made it clear that Japan was very likely to attack soon.
Not one civilian, not Secretary of War Stimson, or Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox were held accountable.
The military was worried about an attack from Japan. There were even directives sent to the commanders in Hawaii telling them to have full patrols out. The failure was the commanders in Hawaii. And Stark as CNO was out because Hawaii is the responsibility of the Navy and his subordinate failed, and Kimmel reported to him.
You’re forgetting all the Medals of Freedom doled out to those who were asleep at the wheel.

This is suprisingly very very good news.
And that would be… http://www.foxnews.com/story/0…
Fucking dumbass. Same gun I have, too.
A couple of years ago, a similar Youtube of some female on a school stage intentionally shooting her gun because she couldn’t get the students to pay her mind!
I’d shoot guns to get students’ attention too.
As it is, I just have to tell math jokes halfway through each class to keep their attention. And there really aren’t that many.
Here’s the only math joke that still makes me laugh:
A mathematician, a physicist, and a biologist are sitting on a park bench arguing philosophy and nonsense. At some point they all vaguely register that two people have walked into a house in front of them.
An hour later, they’re still arguing nonsense, and they notice three people coming out of the same house. “All right,” they challenge each other, “tell me how your discipline explains THAT.”
The biologist says, “Reproduction must have occurred!”
The physicist says, “There must have been some experimental error in the measurements.”
The mathematician says, “Look, I don’t have a theory. That’s not my job. I’m just waiting for one more person to enter the house, so it will be empty.”
….I admit.
Can’t a house be emptier than empty?
Thought you’d dig it…

ThinkGeek has probably the best T-shirts IВґve seen anywhere. These are pretty cool.

The Bush legacy will live on in infamy:
DEBKAfile’s military sources report that on Sunday, Nov. 30, Asia’s two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan, took their first steps towards a conventional war. India, claiming evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the Islamist terrorist assault on Mumbai, placed its air and missile units on war preparedness, while Pakistan, disclaiming the charge, diverted its armed divisions from the Afghan border to its frontier with India.
Military experts fear a full-blown war could spill over into combat with tactical nuclear weapons.
Imagine a world where grown-ups took control after 9/11 and actually worked to eliminate the causes of terrorism.
The war in Iraq is an unmitigated waste and disaster:
For example, here’s a press release from the Center for Arms Control and Non-proliferation:
Peter Galbraith, a top Iraq expert and former ambassador to Croatia, issued a statement today on the status of forces agreement recently signed by the United States and Iraq….”The agreement represents a stunning and humiliating reversal of course by the Bush administration, which had vehemently opposed any timetable for withdrawal from Iraq,” said Galbraith.
Iraqi and American negotiators have been working on the security agreement for over a year. The Iraqi parliament is expected to vote on the pact on Wednesday. To pass, the agreement needs to get 138 votes out of 275 Iraqi lawmakers and also must be ratified by the Iraqi presidential council.
“For the last two years, President Bush has pretended that Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki is a democrat and an American ally. In fact, Maliki is a sectarian Shiite politician who heads a government dominated by pro-Iranian religious parties,” remarked Galbraith. “The U.S. presence now no longer serves the interests of Iraq’s ruling Shiite religious parties or their Iranian allies, so we are now being asked to leave.”
The agreement mandates that “all U.S. combat forces” withdraw from urban areas in Iraq by June 30, 2009, and that “all U.S. forces” withdraw from the country by December 31, 2011. The agreement upholds Iraq’s “sovereign right” to demand the departure of U.S. forces anytime and recognizes the United States’ “sovereign right” to remove its forces earlier than the end of 2011.
….The agreement also bars permanent American bases in Iraq, prohibits the United States from using Iraqi territory to launch attacks against other nations, and bars any residual U.S. forces in Iraq beyond the end of 2011.
Galbraith concluded: “While U.S. withdrawal is made easier by the fact that both the Iraqi government and the new U.S. administration want American troops out, the confluence of events leading to the agreement underscores the folly of President Bush’s lost Iraq war.”
Always nice to hear a positive!
How much do you love what Chauncey is doing for the team? And how much fun is it to see Nene finally healthy? He didn’t even start the season over-weight this year. He’s never looked this great. Still miss Camby and Najera but it’s sure getting harder to argue the trades. The 11 November wins make it the best November since 84-85 and it was especially sweet watching them beat the Celtics. Bummer watching them (and almost everybody else) get creamed by the Lakers, but tonight’s win was a nice one.
One Douchebag gone, two to go…
Rocky isn’t that bad of a mascot. 🙂
Rocky has been the most entertaining athlete in the building.
Chauncey is a hero. He did more in the community here when he played in Detroit than the current crop of knuckleheads (save Marcus Camby) did in aggregate.
Mr. Billups is ranked 1st in assists on the team, and second in avg. points/game! To my eyes, he’s the best team leader I’ve seen in a long time. Who, in the reader’s mind, was the last best team leader for the Nuggets?
It’s great to have him named Player of the Week. He’s so nicely disciplined….and at the samt time entertaining.
Are you coming to the get together on the 14th?
We’re going to have to talk. You are going to laugh out loud (in a good way).
Have a great time.
