Musgrave Officially Sorest Loser In America

  • by: Colorado Pols

UPDATE: Stay classy, says MSNBC:

The Rocky Mountain News summarizes:

Ousted Colorado Rep. Marilyn Musgrave is making national headlines – and not the good kind.

Under the headline “Nobody Likes a Sore Loser. Even in Washington,” Musgrave scored a withering 78 ranking – approaching “utterly shameless” – on Newsweek’s The Dignity Index, described as a survey of “dubious behavior that measures, on a scale of 1 to 100, just how low you can go.”

Why she got zinged: “Despite losing her re-election bid by 12 points, Colorado GOP Rep. Marilyn Musgrave refuses to congratulate her opponent or even concede the race,” Newsweek opined two weeks after the incumbent was trounced by Democratic Betsy Markey in a nasty race for the 4th Congressional District seat representing northeast Colorado.

Politico.com reported Tuesday that “rumors abound that no one has seen or talked to Musgrave since the brutal loss; she’s all but disappeared.”

While a concession to your victor “is not only textbook but also mannerly to do,” Politico added that “rumor has it she still – 14 days later – hasn’t even thanked her campaign staff.”

According to Musgrave’s temporary DC basement office, she did appear yesterday for the lame-duck session. It’s possible she’ll be a little hard to locate with the giant head scarf and Jackie-O sunglasses, but hopefully somebody at one of the local news bureaus out there can track her down for a quote or two? And why is Musgrave so flabbergasted at the loss? Didn’t every poll show her losing handily?

Seriously–at some level, people would just like to know she’s okay.

    1. “DA In Cheney probe….”?  My favorite part was how, after his office was raided last year “he camped outside the courthouse in a borrowed camper with a  horse, three goats and a rooster”.  I see a whimsical indie flick in the making here, maybe with some magical reality elements.

  1. “Seriously–at some level, people would just like to know she’s okay.”

I couldn’t care less how she’s doing–and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in that emotion.  Given her relentless attacks on my family that marked her career, I loathe the woman.

There is not one single member of congress that I was more happy to see rejected than the “Gentlelady from Colorado’s 4th district”.  The fact that she seems to be taking it so hard only brings me greater joy.

        1. I hope she has a severe breakdown and freaks out about what she has done. There are few people who will go down in the annal that can parallel or exceed the horrors that this one has perpetrated.

She made me ashamed to be an Coloradoan.

          1. hoping that anyone has a breakdown.

Sorry that you don’t agree with her politics, but that’s a pretty inhuman attitude.  No one should have a breakdown.

And by the way, I will always be proud to be a Coloradoan, no matter how many assholes claim the same honor.

            1. Good for you. I bet you feel good about that.

Have you forgotten all the crrrazy shit she has done? The effect it has had on peoples lives?

I happen to think that people who demonstrate a blatant disrespect for their elected position should have a reality check.

Outside of a breakdown, what else could possibly get through to this woman?

She isn’t competent, she isn’t open to suggestion, she needs some tough love, only her psyche can provide that for her. It needs to come from the inside. If she has a breakdown from losing this election… after everything she has done, SHE DESERVES IT. Its nature’s built in counterpoint.

              1. I’m elated she lost but I don’t wish a breakdown on anyone or relish the thought she’s lost her marbles (well, beyond the tiny delight that comes from typing that phrase). If anything, the shock of defeat will harden her resolve (for whatever that’s worth, she’s washed up), I doubt it “got through” to her.

    1. Ah the joys of seeing the self-inflicted pain of the self-righteous.  The only thing better would be for Merkey to do a good job and rub Musgrave’s nose in her own failures.

        1. he said that one reason he wanted to be a Congressman (this was years ago) was for the first congressional dinner.  His plan was to sit his partner next to Musty and be the loving couple they are.

      1. Let’s call it musgravfreude — the joy at seeing the self-righteous bring ungraciousness to a new height — or low — after being dealt a thumping setback.

  2. I don’t like Musgrave or her policies one bit, but you have to wonder what in the world is going on and if she’s all right.

Who the hell doesn’t thank their own campaign workers?

Who the hell doesn’t concede promptly and with class after a TWELVE-POINT loss?

    This isn’t just wrong – it’s disturbed.

    1. Cough….cough.

Dave, come on now, you gots to show some sympathy brotha!

I’ve got some good news for you though, the CD 4th is going to get tough to defend, starting tomorrow!  Stay tuned….

      1. Talk about how low can you go – treating your father that way to get votes. That’s low even for a Republican.

As to competitive – I agree 100%. The Republican primary up there is going to be a very close-fought race. The general election however – NFW.

        1. the second-hand clothes and meals from the Salvation Army that she’ll blame for such atrocious behavior. Luckily, though, she’ll now have plenty of time on her hands to help the homeless, the hungry, the beaten and the battered.

  3. that she was actually possessed by the devil for the last few years, and since she is no longer a congresswoman he devil has left her leaving her literally speechless as a result?

  4. that every defeated Congressperson has to read their own political obituary on the House floor in a final speech?   Might we have to watch CSPAN to see if Musgrave knows she lost.  Or will she wait until she sees the Sergeant of Arms running down the aisle with mace and a tazer?

Or could it just be that after a little post-election weight loss, she did give her speech and no one noticed?
