  1. Can some one please tell me what experience does Tiffany Eberly have to manage a state-wide campaign. Tiffany is too emotional and certainly can’t live up to the expectations of a true campaigner!

  2. Phyllis-
Clapp has been slowly weaning her way out of office for the past year. With that tough of a primary, I would be surprised if she dropped and a vacancy committee had to decide amongst those candidates.

    JW-
Having a tough time finding a campaign job? If you’re a D, why would it bother you? If you’re an R, you’re pathetic and an amateur for attacking some with experience and a winning record.

From what I’ve seen and heard, she has been working on campaigns, both paid and volunteer, since at least 2000. If you have beef, go after her record. From her performance last year in the north metro, I’d say she certainly is a true campaigner. Enjoy the sidelines!

  3. I noticed that “Coloradopols” was in the news again today!!!  ON PAGE 7B in the Denver Post:

    BIG-TIME BLOGGERS

In my opinion, the suggestion that Tom Tancredo is Presidential material, is like a suggestion that Gunny Bob Newman is a good talk show host.

Second, just because Dennis Hastert throws his towel in to the ring in support of Rick O’Donnell in CD-7, doesn’t mean a connect to the public.  I am amazed about how truly uninformed and disconnected the Colorado public is in politics.

This state needs more than talk-radio to discuss community issues … and, how many of these Congressional candidates discuss these issues?  I don’t know these people, and frankly neither does the general public …

This current dialectic system is so weighted toward the RIGHT it is pathetic.  In a true Democracy, we would be hearing their opinions everyday.

WHO ARE THESE CANDIDATES … AND, WHY DON”T WE HEAR MORE ON THIS BLOG … DIRECTLY FROM THEM ???

I think these politicians are SCARED rabbits to talk with the public ……………

  4. Let’s take a look at Tiffany’s “races”

    worked on Owens (big deal)

managed state Senator Shawn Mitchell’s campaign. (no surprise there. He would have won without her.)

So, where is her experience? Oh yes. Campaigns that are “sure to win,” and handed to her like Acting Treasurer Mark Hillman’s. Give me a break! Again, where is her experience?

  6. Denver Voter-
I am very much involved with election issues and take a major concern in election administration. Especially in Denver County where I live. I also watch the Sec. of State’s office closely.

  7. Ok, why pick on Tiffany?  There is a serious lack of talent on the R side for running races, volunteering, etc…  Sure, once upon a time Tiffany was young and dumb, but I have watched her for quite some time and she has grown up a lot.  She will do just fine with Hillman.

  8. Tiffany do fine?  You must be watching a different Tiffany.  She is rude and pushy as well as over emotional about her work.  She takes things too personally.  She needs to grow some thicker skin. I don’t think she’s had a tough job since she started, which could explain her lack of political savvy.

  9. Okay…so she worked on Cloer’s campaign. Again, can someone tell me what campaign “management” experience does Tiffany have to run a state-wide campaign? All of you have given me experience that she worked on. Big deal! I can work on campaigns and then say I am qualified to run one, but everything she has “worked on” seems to have been given to her. When she can “manage” a real hard campaign and not an easy one, then I will give credit. Otherwise, go away with Tiffany worked on this campaign, Tiffany worked on that campaign. That doesn’t mean squat!

  10. I have been doing research on denver elections for the past two years and they are HORRIBLE to deal with.  I would love to see changes made to the DEC.

  11. Again, let me remind all of you that I have asked not once, but twice on this thread to tell me what CAMPAIGN MANAGEMENT has Tiffany had. All you have come up with is campaigns she has WORKED on. There is a big difference in working on a campaign and MANAGING a campaign. None of you have giving me that reason. Therefore, what MAKES her QUALIFIED to MANAGE a STATEWIDE race?

  12. Sure Owens was a shoe-in, but I am sure working on the Owens campaign gave Tiffany Eberle a lot of state wide campaigning experience. Furthermore, in a bad election year in which conservatives were losing seats left and right, Tiffany won Mitchell his Senate seat in a race ending in a spread of 16 points.  That was a bigger spread than I think Mitchell has ever won by.  Besides, I don’t know of anyone who dislikes Tiffany.  I certainly think she is a hard worker with a lot of experience.  Any potential candidate would be lucky to have her as his/her campaign manager.

  13. WHOA there Abby! Why the yelling? So managing Mitchell’s campaign makes her qualified? I don’t think so.

Tyler Nifong could have ran that campaign and won!

  14. Abby-  I could write you a list of people who dislike Tiffany.  I’ll start with Me.  I’m sure others will add to it.  Anyone could have won the Mitchell campaign. He is well liked and a good guy.  It’s like running a Mr. Roger’s campaign, a no brainer.  Tiffany hasn’t made a name for herself anywhere except the Captiol.  And that’s only because she’s too emotional.  Don’t get angry because everyone on this board disagrees with you.

  15. Charles,

She is running Mark Hillman for Treasurer campaign

She is an emotional, twenty something non-campaign management experience, only worked on a few “give ’em to me” campaigns, yet qualified to run a state race non management campaigner!

  16. If you want to see what she looks like, check out John Suthers’ campaign website and go to out and about or something like that. She is in one of the pictures behind Suthers wearing a white colared shirt.

    Young, dumb and full of…

  17. Running a gossip mill today, are we?  I haven’t heard much on Culpepper lately, but the last I heard, he was doing well.  Great job and he’s with his family.  Does it get much better than that?

  18. To all supposed Republicans – your above criticism of Tiffany Eberle is not helpful to the Republican cause.  Mark Hillman will do what he has to do to win.  If that means he wants her to run his race then question him, not her.

I encourage each of you to spend your time trying to get Republicans elected instead of taking juvenile shots at each other – whether we’re talking about her or any other GOP campaigners.

Besides, who does have statewide management experience prior to their first statewide management position?  We’re all on the same team here.

  19. Let’s talk about George for a second. Never in my life have a seen such a self-centered emotional baby.  I mean this guy left the Coors campaign after burning all his bridges with everyone including Tonner and Nifong.  Whatever he is doing in Alaska I hope he stays out of politics.  The GOP can’t afford his baggage.

  20. GJ STEWEY:  What do you mean?  If you were ever fortunate enough to get elected to office and a congressman from another district but in the same political party came to your district would you not go listen and see what issues were discussed?  In doing so, Penry was sought out by a reporter and asked to comment.  I wasn’t there but would be willing to be there were several elected officials in the audience, Josh just so happens to be the one that gives the best soundbite.

  21. This seems like an awful lot of time to devote to someone you dislike JW and Heavenly.  Why don’t you talk about me, everyone dislikes me, that way the entire board can play.

More importantly, if you are going to sit here and bash someone, have the testicular fortitude to say who you are.  Its pretty chickenshit to whine on an online forum about someone and not even give your real name.  If you did the other people can qualify your opinion to see if you really even have the credibility to asses someone’s experience and ability.  My guess:  you don’t.

You know who I am, I gave you my real name.  Now, you can qualify my opinion: I think Tiffany is a hard worker, who has fought tooth and nail for every spot she’s gotten, one might even use the adjective “scrappy”.  More importantly, I know how she got the gig working for Mitchell, it was by working hard and proving to him that she was effective and dedicated enough to run his race and blow away his opponent.  If working hard, and showing dedication is being handed a job, then I have a seriously backward understanding of the world.

Tiffany will do a great job on Hillman’s race, there is no question in my mind.  When she does, I hope you’ll be a big enough human being to apologize for criticizing her like some kind of pathetic school girl for no other obvious reason then pettiness and jealousy.

P.S.  If you want rag on me I’d avoid words like emotional/thin skinned, because you are nothing to me.

  22. Anyone who thinks that Tiffany has ever been handed a position in her life obviously doesn’t know her in any other fashion except as an acquaintance.  Continue to doubt her, and she’ll prove to everyone again next November that she earned Hillman’s confidence.  This issue is a dead horse.  She’s Hillman’s campaign manager, move onto something else.

  23. I’m thinking Hillman is probably a pretty good judge of what HE wants as HIS campaign manager.  If he wants Tiffany, leave her alone, that’s his call, not yours.

Knocking her for her lack of experience sounds a lot like jealousy to me….

As for her personality, I don’t know, having never personally met her.

  24. Yeah move onto something else.  I think we have had our little bash fest.  There are more interesting topics to talk about.  I am actually getting bored of this one (yawn)

  25. Just proves my point. Emotional. I mean there are many people on this site who are attacked and yet, it doesn’t phase them. So, again, can’t handle the job: No experience and too emotional!

  26. Ethan,
I think you are taking things very personally.  I have met and seen Tiffany and her work.  I personally don’t think she has done anything out of the ordinary.  But who knows maybe she can pull this off.  I personally do not like her because I find her very pushy and rude, not my style.

As for who I am who cares?  If I told you you wouldn’t know or care so why should I.  I have no idea who you are so I can’t bash you but it sounds like you kind of like it.

This website is here so we can all say what we feel.  I have defended some and not others.  This is politics, stop whining.

  27. Oh wait I thought of another interesting topic.  Let’s talk about how George Culpepper was the only Coors guy who didn’t get a job with either the Governor or Phase Line.  Could it be because they thought he was too emotionally unstable.

  28. This crap could be directed at each and every one of the people posting on here.  Tiffany drove me crazy for a long time, but you know what, she has learned from her mistakes, hasn’t given up and keeps getting better at what she does.

Outside of Dick Wadams or Sean Tonner please name me 4 other people with enough experience for a statewide or Congressional race JW.  That should cover Gov, Sec State, Treasurer and one of the Congressional races.  Make them CO products, not the east coast types.  Let’s here those names so all on this blog can get out the knives and start slashing.  Please make sure to include your own.

  29. I think Kevin has a crush on Culpepper or some type of vendeta.  Why do you keep bringing him up?  He’s not even in the state anymore. Give it up.

  30. Kevin,

Contradicting yourself there are we? Who cares about that dude! I don’t like him either. Still waiting on the campaign management experience on TE!

  31. Abby of all the people I would think you would know that Tonner didn’t offer everyone a job.  Oh wait you only volunteered.  Anne, I mean Abby, you don’t know everything, remember that.

Tonner didn’t offer everyone jobs and not everyone on the Coors campaign got a job in the Govenors office or at Phase Line so I don’t know where you got that info from.  Some wanted to do their own things, some decided to move etc. etc. etc. It’s politics nothing is ever for sure.

  32. Okay. Emotional. I don’t like the guy, but you say he is emotional because he left the state to move closer to his father who has cancer. (Know this from previous postings.) If you call that emotional, Kevin, then you are just plain ignorant and confused!

Tiffany, on the other hand, is really emotional!

  33. Republicans are hilarious.  JW, you really think this is an effective way to score a job?  Gun for the gal that beat you?  I’ve been in these situations before.  Attacking someone anonymously in a forum where all the insiders read?  Imagine when someone does that to you… unless you’re so unimportant that no one cares (likely the case).

Dude, not cool.  Karma is a bitch.  Especailly in Politics.  You better be certian that no one knows who you are.  If you told even one person, it’ll be out soon, and probably on this site.  If you’re a young operative trying to make a name for yourself/work your way to the top, this is not helpful to you.  Hopefully you’ll have another crack at a job.  I hear Tancredo/Penry might be hiring for thier presidential/VP bid.

  34. See, everyone has come in her defense, but no one has said what makes her qualified. SOunds like to me she has all of you fooled and wrapped around her little finger. Rest assured, I will vote for Hillman because he is a nice guy, but it won’t be because of Tiffany. Besides anyway, don’t be so quick to judge that I am a Republican. Last time I checked, there were more than one Party in Colorado.

  35. Wondering,

You are obviously the idiot! If you don’t know who Patrick Davis is then get off the site. He is consulting ROD’s campaign! Wonder why the Speaker is coming to town? Thank Patrick Davis! You IDIOT!

  36. FACTCHECKER,

Sorry sir, you have the wrong idea.  I am really excited that these two great minds are coming together.  Just wishful thinking, I’m sure, that they would ever be running mates, but that would be a great Gov./Lt. Gov ticket.

Tancredo is one of the only true leaders whe have in this state.  I was not a huge Penry fan until I spoke to him personally and learned of his commitment to God and to true conservative values.  God bless the both of them and I hope they consider working togther even more in the future.

    TANCREDO/PENRY 2008!

  37. btw for those of you who think that jobs were offered to Coors staffers here’s what happened.

Tonner said he would offer all of staffers jobs, but never came through. Three people, Dirk, Brett, and George never waited for that chance, and went on their own instead of waiting for the bread to come to the table. The other two… Adam and Rob…are working for the governor. Would have been tainted, if they took them.

Tonner is stuck up and cocky too. Maybe that’s why so many Republican’s like him.

  38. Nice list JW. I think you’re right with the names by the way, but Patrick is doing consulting, Dirk has a race that he is the #2 for and Scott left the State after Martinez took over. We already saw how Ethan seems to be pretty happy with Tiff running Suther’s race and I thought Tyler was still with Tonner.
So what’s your point dude? Everyone more experienced than Tiff has a job. Sounds like she is in the right spot to me. Maybe Mark can clue us in on who Tiff beat out for the job, then we’ll know who you are.

  39. JW- I respect your opinon but it is just that.  I think Tonner is someone who only has himself in mind.  He’s good at politiking but I personally have only seen the self centered in it for the money Sean Tonner.  Maybe I’ll get the chance to see this guy you like, but until then I think he’s stuck up.

  40. GJ STEWEY:  The real story out of the Western Slope this weekend was the letter FORMER Congressman McInnis sent to Mesa County delegates.  Quite a insignificant tactic unless the return address was listed as “Scott and Lori Innis”.  Might be time for a Gay Hammer pink slip…she never could run campaigns!

Quite typical of a Matt Smith operation, little organization or fundraising capacity.  I’m with Penry – I hear he makes it official in the coming weeks.

  41. I love it when people try to guess who I am!!!  I am not Culpepper, I am a girl after all so that’s way off. I’m also not as far right as Culpepper so that’s another strike.  But go ahead and keep guessing, it’s a lot of fun for me.

  42. JW – I am laughing my a** off that you put Scott Russell on there as someone who could run a statewide campaign.  Boy did you really show your stripes with that one.  What a joke!!

  43. I usually just read this website in the afternoons right after the comics and never chime in!  HOWEVER, I take great offense to the little respect Sean Tonner gets from all you wannabes.  Regardless of who is taking shots they clearly have never worked side by side this guy.  When going into battle (thats what campaigns are) I would not want anyone else by my side and I am sure Pete Coors and Bill Owens would agree.  He is a straight shooter and you always know where you stand with Tonner.  His ethics are above reproach and I challenge any of you to list your credentials on this site as matching his.  You have to look no further than the fact that it was 6 short years ago, that he was just like you and I, young, eager, hardworking and a will to win.  Fast forward to now and he has done what very few of us can say we’ve done and that is make a VERY good living in the business.  And for those of you who think he is just in it for the money, ask Pete Coors if he was satisified with the product he received…he won’t hesitate to tell you YES!

  44. JW –

Russell no longer lives in CO.

Neither Ethan nor Dirk, while both good guys, has more experience in any tangible sense then Eberle.

Not to mention Eberle has lived her her entire life, while Ethan has been here for a year, and Dirk about the same.  I think twenty some odd years in the state puts her at an advantage.

    Heavenly –

Tonner is good man.  He served his country, he cares about Colorado.  From everything I can tell, you just have a long string of personal grudges.  Let it go, you’ll live a happier life.

  45. Player,

It’s quite obvious when there were not one, but two threads about the dude and considering everything but his thongs were brought out. I would say almost everyone knows him. Besides, anyway, he was involved in El Paso County politics. But, still nice guess or INSULT though.

    Where is Tiffany’s experience?

  46. JW, are you a Christian?  What you’re doing is extremely wrong, regarless of whether or not your argument is correct or not.  I’ll be praying for you and I suggest you stop and pray yourself.  God will forgive you and you should forgive yourself, but don’t go on doing what you’re doing… please.

  47. Hey Folks this is Shawn Mitchell,

Kinda’ harsh in here.  Ronald Reagan is not smiling. But to wrap up a couple loose ends–Tiffany’s experience covers several campaigns, legislative and statewide.  I asked her to manage my campaign after I saw her record as a great, hard-working, well-performing legislative aide.

SD 23 is a district I probably would have won anyway.  All she did was guide the campaign to my biggest victory margin in 4 elections, and help our campaign get more votes in the GOP-friendly district than George Bush did.

We had more signs, more volunteers, and more presence at local and county events than any other local or statewide campaign–and more than I had ever had before.  When we argued (and we did some) it was because she expected me to campaign, fundraise, walk and call more than I was doing.  She was an outstanding campaign manager and I encouraged Hillman to interview her.

  48. JW, grow a pair and tell us who you are, weakling.  GJSTEWY, Tancredo/Penry are a dream match but only a pipe dream.  Start thinking in real terms.  They should continue working together behind the scenes, but that’s it.

  49. I see this a lot in politics.  JW you seem jealous of Tiffany’s new position.  Do you wish you could manage the Hillman campaign?  From what I have read you are attacking someone who seems has the experience because you wish it could be you.  However, you are too cowardly to say it to her face so use the anonymous postings of this website to voice your opinion.  Obviously you don’t have the balls to address this when you have name

  50. I have been reading this and yet all of you want JW to say who he/she is, but you post with an anonymous name yourself. If you want JW to say who they are, then why do you hide behind the same curtain?

    Shawn,

I commend you for what you are doing. But, please be careful on here, especially if you want to run statewide. If Tiffany asked you to respond, that was ill advice on her part. That is all I am saying. Just don’t fall into the same trap.

Keep up the good work, Shawn!

  51. Sen. Mitchell,

Hat’s off to you sir.  God bless your dedication to this state and to true conservative principles.  I salute you.  Run against Suthers–> HE”S A SNAKE!

  52. Stewey, a letter went out this past weekend to Senate District 7 delegates.  The letter was signed by Scott and Lori McInnis.  The text was boring and typical.  However, the return address was from Scott and Lori Innis (sp) and the inside addresses were all goofy.

It had Gay Hammer written all over it!  Time for her to go Matt!

  53. Goldwater:  I’ve been here since May 2003, thank you.  With the exception of a few months I spent in CA.

I do agree about Tonner, he’s a great guy.  He went out of his way to bring me back a farm and Ranch team poster from D.C.  How many of you can say that 🙂  I have not  worked for him directly, but seeing him in action made me wish I had.

JW/Heavenly:  This is lame.  If you are going to try and convince people that you are not posting as both handles here are some tips:

    1.  Don’t post two minutes after each other
    2.  Don’t use identical syntax and sentence structure from both personalities
    3.  No one would ever say “does it get any better then that” about someone else who’s father had cancer.  The only time that would be used is if the person were trying to make themselves feel better about an awful situation.  I am really sorry about what happening with your family, and despite you choosing a bizarre outlet for your frustration, you and yours will be in my prayers.  Your better then this.

  54. This was my point all along: Emotional.

If Tiffany wasn’t emotional, then why did she get on her phone and all of your phones started ringing to stand up for her. All I asked for was what was her campaign management skills?

No one, but Shawn Mitchell could answer that. For that Sir, I commend you!

    The others are idiots!

  55. I leave for a second and I miss tons of great stuff.

First off I am not George Culpepper I can guarantee you I am a girl, have every part that consists of such.  So thank you.

As for Tiffany I just don’t like her as a person.

Goldwater, I don’t have a long line of grudges. I like Culpepper, I like Mitchell, I like Hickenlooper, I like Jeff Crank and the list goes on and on.  It just so happens most people on this board (the ones you talk about the most I happen not to like).  I live a very happy life but thank you for being concerned.

These are all my opinons and my own personal experience.  If you experience something different then good for you but this is what I’ve got to say.  Thanks for reading!!

  56. More about the proposed change to the DEC-

I am luke-warmly suppoerting this effort at the moment. I guess that means I don’t really care enough to campaign one way or the other, but if the election were held today I’d vote for it.

The one major advantage to the County Clerk system is that will be a full time lected person in chanrge and answerable to the voters. The current election commissioners are only do that job as a part time gig. I go to most Election Commission meetings and much of these meetings are spent catching up the commissioners on the happenings of the commission. If the person in charge was a full-time person, he or she would already know what is going on and the public meting could focus more on community advisemnt and involvement.

As for the problems mentioned in the link an above posting, I don’t see those being such a problem. After all, every other county in Colorado has a County Clerk who is the chief elections officer for the county. And they all have been doing it that way since statehood (or the incorporation of the county) and it seems to be going just fine for them.

  57. Ethan,

You can sit there and try to guess who I am all you want. However, I am not who you think I am.  Nice to know you join the rest of us who dislike him though.

As for Heavenly, don’t know who that is and frankly don’t care.

  58. Realfunny, is that all you could come up with?  The truth comes out that George is a girl?  Ha Ha very funny.  I’m not going to defend myself and try to convince those who don’t believe me that I’m not George.  I am a girl who lives in Colorado, not a boy living in Alaska.  It’s that simple.  Sorry you can’t handle the truth.

  59. Ethan Eilon, great post. GC pulled the same “I’m not sure how to spell Dirk” stuff under an alias that has been confirmed as his (Colorado Underdog).

  60. Just received an e-mail telling me to check out this site and I must say, I am a bit surprised of what I have read. First of all, I don’t have the time or the patience to monitor this site all day nor do I care too.

Tiffany is a great person and works hard on campaigns. I have seen her work and I agree with Shawn Mitchell. God Bless Him!

Ethan is a surprise. I would have never figured that your comments would be as such towards me.

Sean Tonner is a great guy and I would fight for his cause any day!

As for me, yes my father has cancer and I am glad of the choices I made. It was hard, but one that I felt I needed to do and thankful that I can give up a life I love to be closer to my family. If you want to bash me, ridicule me, trash me, or whatever that is fine. It shows me your true colors and more importantly, shows me who my real friends are!

I have many things to worry about instead of being concerned with what any of you are saying about me. I do appreciate it, whether good or bad, and at least I know I impacted some of your lives one way or another.

    Take Care!

  61. I do have to say that I like Ethans train of thought.  Analyzing the way that two different people write and trying to fit them together.  Very CSI.  But alas we are not the same person, if only I could prove it.  Oh well I’ll have to live with the fact that you’ll never know who I am, but keep thinking that I’m Culpepper because that’ll make everything I say even funnier!!

  62. I didn’t think George was JW or heavenly… He is too willing to come out and post as himself.
Besides, I didnt get why he would go after Tiff…
Like I said, we need to see Mark’s job applications to know who JW really is.

  63. Joke:

Q:What’s the difference between Bill Owens and George Culpepper?
A:  George Culpepper is a great guy who left to take care of his ailing relative.

Bill Owens is a guy who decided not to run for US Senate because he has a lovechild.

  64. I do know Tiffany beat out Joe Peters for the Hillman job, but it couldn’t be him posting because JW likes Tonner. So the mystery remains….just remember Reagan’s 11th Commandment JW, or maybe you were too young to ever actually hear Reagan’s message. So why don’t you shut up……junior.

  65. I’m glad you like to compare Ronald Reagan to Jesus, our lord and savior, FACTCHECKER.  There is no comparison to the lord god and a man (although a great man) who was president of the united states.  Contrary to many upsetting comments I hear in our party, Reagan is not GOD.

  66. Last time I checked, Jesus had nothing to do with the 10 Commandments. So I don’t see why you are getting your bible in a bunch. And for the record: Reagan WAS NOT God.

  67. if Jesus was doing away with the ten commandments, why would He have spent so much time teaching people to keep them and allowed so much space in the New Testament to be devoted to them?

    by his grace.

  68. Seems like to me GC called Ethan out and yet Ethan has no response. Could this be Ethan just felt like a complete A$$ and is now wondering how he can explain his previous posts?

    Gotcha!

  69. So like RRnotGod is pretty new huh? Must be a Buddist also… That’s cool dude, diversity is a good thing. Forget not that Moses gave us the Ten Commandments. Uncle Ron gave us the 11th. Some of us even obey it.

Also, I didn’t think Joe Peters was up for running Hillman’s campaign, I thought he was going to run the Majority Fund (and still is, depending on how things go with Leadership vote).

  70. BTW, if so many of you, Shawn Mitchell excluded, knows a lot about Tiffany, why did you call her Tiffany Eberle when it is Tiffany Coolidge?

    What idiots!

  71. Who cares that Tom Tancredo has made no media comments since his “bomb MECCA” suggestion?  Has Tancredo dug a hole?

Between Dobson, Tancredo and Swartzenoograder … what has happened to the GOP in 5 years?

  72. Dude, you started this thread by referring to her as “Tiffany Eberly”. Therefore, you are, by your own definition, an idiot.

    Please stop posting.

  73. Galo,

Of Course I started out as such and knew what I was typing. But throughout the thread I proved that noone really knew what they were talking about, especially you! You criticize me for attacking someone, but you do the same in previous posts.

    Give me a Break!

  74. Judging by the pace and the scope of the scurrilous bickering today, I’d have to say it was a very boring weekend for the young GOP hacks of Colorado.

Perhaps ya’ll should be working a little harder? Don’t we have a tax increase to defeat and a legislature to win back?

  75. (Thanks for directing us to Suther’s website and the photo of Tiffany).  I remember her now from working at the Capitol in 2004.  She’s one of the best looking young staffers in politics.

  76. Voice from beyond
Sen. Mitchell speaking for Ronald Reagan twice in one week?  Today regarding Tiff and Saturday (at the Republicans North meeting/debate) when he claimed RR would have voted for C/D.  He did apologize and retract the statement after a little chiding from Rep. Berens.  Great opinions/arguments from all sides (Rep. Berens & Sen. Anderson for and Sen. Mitchell and Rep. Stengel against.
Seems like there would be more interesting things for you (JW) to talk about than Tiffany.  And no she did not call me and tell me to write.  I have no idea who she is but cannot believe the response she has gotten on this always entertaining and sometimes ridiculous website.

  77. I would imagine Tiffany is loving this attention.  For a bunch of people who dislike her so much, you sure are riling up her friends and making her famous.

She seems pretty insignificant.  Britney Spears is starting to sound interesting.

  78. Uh, actually, I said Ronald Reagan would tell us to vote *against* Ref. C. (not for–small difference).  Then I quickly apologized and said I had no standing to put words in his mouth.  Or, in Christopher Hitchens’ eloquent phrase, “Nobody has the right to ventriloquize the dead.”

I second Observer’s comments.  We’ve got more important things to do, and better ways to treat each other.  Cheers.

  79. Shawn,

We need you to run for AG! Will you do it?

I do, however, concur with Brett Anderson though when he said, “But, please be careful on here, especially if you want to run statewide. If Tiffany asked you to respond, that was ill advice on her part. That is all I am saying. Just don’t fall into the same trap.”

Be Careful Brother! We need you!

  80. I think the most talented politico in Colorado is Jack Stansbery.  There are other great talents, but I have always admired his work.

As for this criticism of Tiffany, folks, get a life.

Tiffany, as someone who several national blogs once ripped on mercilessly for a bit, let me say this…the only people ripping on you are complete losers going no where.

Best of luck.  The GOP is fortunate to have talent like you.

Let’s work together, take back the state legislature, keep the petty crap to a minimum and win the day.

  81. TO BECKY 2:44 p.m. re: Leadership Program of the Rockies http://www.leadershipprogram.org/

I didn’t participate, but you should ask Clay Calhoun http://www.claycalhoun.com/2005/06/lpr-friday-graduation.html who did; see his LPR Connections blogroll at left.  LPR is pricey but includes schmoozing with many who are already leaders.

Boulder Chamber of Commerce http://www.boulderchamber.com/lbco/ has a similar pricey leadership program, Leadership Boulder County, locally oriented.  I think it starts in January (registration deadline unknown).

If you aren’t concerned with the diploma and schmoozing or are short on cash, you can save money and do your own program.  In Boulder I attended Boulder Citizen Police Academy and Planning 101, 201, and Transportation 101 seminars and field trips for no charge to learn more about local government.

  82. I tell ya, if it were half the price, it would never be empty.  You might be able to fetch more eventually, after you have a history of clicks to sell on.  Right now, your focus should be on filling the ad space, whatever it takes, to build that record and then allow that record to set the price.

  83. CHANGE OF SUBJECT: CINDY SHEEHAN … ASK BUSH WHY BIG OIL DOESN”T WANT NEO-TRANSPORTATION … BLOOD FOR THE MILITARY COMPLEX … ???

ANY DOUBTERS THAT THINK THE CONSERVATIVES DON”T WANT US TO HAVE AFFORDABLE TRANSPORTATION ???  NO REASON TO GO TO WAR OVER OIL …

250 miles per gallon? They’re doing it
Tinkerers fiddle with hybrids to increase efficiency

    Monday, August 15, 2005; Posted: 4:25 p.m. EDT (20:25 GMT)

Ron Gremban works with the 18 extra batteries in his Toyota Prius. The power boosts the car’s mileage to 80 miles per gallon.

CORTE MADERA, California (AP) — Politicians and automakers say a car that can both reduce greenhouse gases and free America from its reliance on foreign oil is years or even decades away.

Ron Gremban says such a car is parked in his garage.

It looks like a typical Toyota Prius hybrid, but in the trunk sits an 80-miles-per-gallon secret — a stack of 18 brick-sized batteries that boosts the car’s high mileage with an extra electrical charge so it can burn even less fuel.

Gremban, an electrical engineer and committed environmentalist, spent several months and $3,000 tinkering with his car.

Like all hybrids, his Prius increases fuel efficiency by harnessing small amounts of electricity generated during braking and coasting. The extra batteries let him store extra power by plugging the car into a wall outlet at his home in this San Francisco suburb — all for about a quarter.

He’s part of a small but growing movement. “Plug-in” hybrids aren’t yet cost-efficient, but some of the dozen known experimental models have gotten up to 250 mpg.

  84. the only loser seems to be JW.  He obviously has never spent any time with or around Tiffany.  I agree with what was said earlier, he seems to be someone who got passed over for a statewide position this cycle and is a sore loser.  As to Tiffany, she has heaps more political saavy than most others who post here, she is kind, hardworking, committed, she is one of the  most knowledgable people regarding colorado politics in the state (ask anyone except JW).  On a personal note she is a great teacher and a loyal GOPer.  Now, to address JW’s next question, no I haven’t spoken with her, I stumbled upon your baseless rant on my own.  Anyone who is involved in politics in this state, on any side, knows JW is being a jackass here.

  85. just kidding tiff, you’re great when you’re in a good mood.

stansbury- what you up to these days?

I really find this strangely enjoyable for it’s High School cafeterianess. I also like seeing all the names come out of the woodwork-  quite enjoyable in the most banal way.

  86. Peter,

This blog focuses on inside Colorado politics. National issues play here as they affect Colorado but your change the subject post seems a bit rude because it interrupts the players and to cut and paste an AP story is poor form. We give each other links on the blog but to paste stories in considered inconsiderate by many. It is my hope that you can be interested in learning about the inside game of this state and calm down a little on wanting to control the national scene.

  87. Peter is DELJ with a left leaning lobotomy.  Please stop.  Go start your own blog and rant and rave there.  Stop posting your goofy conspiracy theories and anti-Bush rhetoric.  There are plenty of lefties that are regulars on this site without being annoying and there are plenty of other places out there on the great WWW for your brand of “discussion”, why here???

You are filling up space and wasting people’s time.  Which is saying a lot since most people are just killing time by reading this stuff anyway!

  88. BB has been able to raise significant money; but his campaign hands have been more than rude to important people, he would be wise to have chosen a different campaign manager.

  89. This is a political forum.  If you don’t like politics then don’t read and go somewhere else.

IF I decide to be a liberal, then I would appreciate the same equality in allowing you to be a idiot Republican.  Natioinal news is as important as local.  IF ColoradoPols wishes to post a section for just national politics, I will post there.  Frankly, you need to open your eyes a bit.

And, just because “Keith” and others cannot debtate with me, is not my problem — it is their problem.

Further, this is called “Monday Open Thread” … can you read?

  90. Dear Daniel:

Thanks for the links and info, I’ll check them out.  An attendee has to commit to nine days in nine months, and I hate to do that if the conference is a snooze fest.

If anyone has attended in the past and can take a break from the Tiffany punching bag-o-thon, I’d love to hear from you.

  91. Keith –

No problem Keith … I am not angry with you, a bit pointed maybe about the national stuff … I will concentrate more on the local scene.  However, the national news does get my feathers ruffled from time to time …

It is often difficult to be positive in politics Keith … we should both try to be better in talking about the positive.

    Have a good night.

Thank goodness we are living in this country.  🙂

  92. George, if you had nothing to do with any of this then I definitely do feel like a total ass, and am not to proud to admit it.  As I said, it didn’t make sense for you to act this way, and I’m glad it wasn’t you.  I like you George, and I’m sorry if I got caught up in something false.  As I also said, you and your family are and have been in my prayers since I learned of your situation.

Despite all that, I stand by my assertion that people who post anonomously when called out are cowards.

And I did not respond becuase I was busy untill now.

  93. All of this banter back and forth boils down to this.  Some people don’t think that Tiffany should run the Hillman race, but in the end they are not in charge of making that decision, Mark Hillman is.  Further, look where the criticism is coming from.  I highly doubt that it is the major players in Republican politics in Colorado like Shari Williams, Patrick Davis, Sean Tonner, Dick Wadhams, Chuck Broerman, Cinamon Watson, and so on.
So who does that leave?  If it were those people then Tiffany would have something to worry about, but I suggest that it is a group of people that know less about politics than a monkey knows about being a rocket scientist.

These folks who are taking shots at Tiffany, or any other Republican for that matter, will never make it to the level of a Dick Wadhams because they don?t have enough tact to know when to hold their tongue nor the discipline to see the big picture.

  94. Speaking for myself, I think this is the kind of issue that hits those of us in our thirties. I have always been one of the youngest in my professional circles, and been a little proud of that. Now, the next generation is arriving, and some are very talented rising stars (like Tiffany).

There are those who will say Tiffany doesn’t have the statewide campaign management experience, but that’s like saying LeBron James doesn’t have playoff experience. The fact is she is a prodigy of sorts (who has a wealth of experience for her age), and someone of her age scoring this position is remarkable for her, and I commend her for it. Even if it reminds me of the fact that I’m no LeBron.

  95. JW, ziik, heavenly, Where are you?  aren’t you going to come out and defend yourselves and your vast political experience by setting the people straight who are criticizing you?

  96. Tiffany probably had a bad day yesterday and I will leave to yesterday. I only asked one question and no one but Shawn Mitchell answered it. So, if she had a bad day, its because the rest of you gave it to her.

  97. JW, just two quick questions.  No need to ID yourself, but I was right when  said that you were not of the same calibur as Shari Williams, Patrick Davis, Sean Tonner, Dick Wadhams, Chuck Broerman, or Cinamon Watson, right?  Your just a low level wannabe political hack, right?  I was just wondering because if you say you are of the same calibur, you are obviously ignorant, and if you are not, you are unimportant.  How sad for you.

  98. Jonny Boy,

Read the thread. What does it say? “Monday Thread”

You are old news. The rest of us are on Tuesday.

Do you love me or something? Are you wanting my number? Is that why you keep on “calling” me?

  99. No love for you here, I just want you to answer the question.  But wait, we already know the answer to the question, don’t we?  You?re just a hack who has no future and finds enjoyment in trying to tear other people down.  How pathetic.

  100. I hear I’m being called out by some guy named Jonathan?  Why is it that I need to answer to anybody about an opinon I have?  I don’t.  Everything that was posted on YESTERDAYS thread (which you are still stuck on) was my opinon, what I have seen, experienced, done etc. within my own political career.  It is a career that I am proud of and I don’t consider myself a hack as you phrase it. You can call me a hack you can tell me I’m wrong yadda yadda yadda however, it is an opinon and that’s what this website it for. Posting opinon’s.  I will continue to do such even if people like you criticize me, because if I listened to people like you I wouldn’t be where I am today, it’s that simple.  I look forward to posting with you down the line. Have a nice TUESDAY.

  101. heavenly,

I just wanted to see if you wanted to defend yourselves against the folks who were taking you to task.  You are completely entitled to your opinion, I didn’t say you were not.  I am sure that you have worked hard to become the legislative aide or field coordinator you are now.
If you care so much about Tuesday, why even bother coming to this thread?

  102. I like it here just fine, thanks.  I get to sit around a ponder how hacks like you and heavenly could even think for a minute that you have any talent.  Maybe one day you can wear your big boy pants and actually get a job that some people don’t think you should have and see if you can stand u to the criticism.

  103. Sloppyslope:

    I agree w you 100%!!!
It’s time for Gay Hammer to head west into the sunset.  I have a feeling that losing the race for Matt Smith will finally cause her to dry up and blow away.  Thank God!!! Penry’s got my vote!!!

  104. uh…Jonathan dude, I was making a joke- I like tiff just fine.

And I think Dick would be a little offended that you classified him in the same category as Chuck Broerman. And since he’s not reading this right now, I’ll be offended for him.

See ya on the Wednesday open thread.

    -ziik

  105. ziik,

I am not saying that Broerman and Wadhams are in the same league, I am saying that they are both way above folks like heavenly and JW, thats all.
