President Barack Obama

No “Bradley Effect,” it would have manifested in Pennsylvania.

New Hampshire goes blue. Obama by 4 in Florida with 42% in.

We’re calling this thing.

  1. That’s it, the fat lady can sing.  No republican has ever won without Ohio and that holds true this year even without va, nc, fla or the western trifecta.

Obama is president elect of the United States.

Friends, we have seen history and, in our own modest way, we have made that history.

  2. a total rout is what we need to give some actual credibility to “I earned some political capital” and 350+ EV’s gives that to Obama.  That looks well within reach at this point.

      1. McCain’s people booed twice when John mentioned Obama.  McCain hushed them both times.

When Obama mentioned McCain and his campaign, people clapped.

A snapshot of the psychologies of the types of people the supporters are. I think if McCain had won, those tribalists would still have booed Obama.

      1. The Senator McCain we saw tonight is the Senator McCain many Democrats feared would be running against them in the election.  It’s unfortunate for the Republicans that he wasn’t the one who was allowed to hit the trail and win the election.

  3. A collective sigh of relief from millions of Americans swept across the country this evening as Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States of America.

The expelled air travelled across the plains from both coasts in a counter-clockwise motion and cooled slightly. “Truly, these are the winds of change” cites one anonymous official while gazing skyward.

Severe meteorological phenomena had been predicted for election day, most notably the “shit-storm” of protests regarding Republican interference and disenfranchisement of voters. As events unfolded, and Obama captured state after state with an historic GOTV and exemplary campaign of nearly two years, people were simply blown away by the momentum and energy.

Thanks to this clearing of the air, experts predict that 99% fewer people will have to hold their nose against the stink of the worst presidential administration in history. “Although the Republican stench is expected to linger until mid-January,” another unnamed source revealed, sharing with public new data, which is still sensitive “we should have clear skies after.”

North Carolina is going along very close, but with 99% of the votes counted it looks to stay in the Obama tally. I could not have predicted this. I did not think we Democrats had a chance in Indiana. Montana, maybe, but not Indiana.

But all together this makes for 367 EVs. That is alsmot the number I predicted a week ago, but for the wrong reasons. I thought Georgia might flip and Indiana and Montana would not.

So I’m glad I did not take the bet on this being a landslide or Georgia going blue.

    1. I may still get a beer and sxp might still get his.

According to reports, Atlanta has not counted over 600,000 early votes yet.  McCain is only up by 240,000 votes, and Atlanta is very heavily African-American and Democratic leaning.

  5. Hey Coloradopolsters,

Havent posted in a LONG time because i have been working and traveling. But I must say that watching the election news in Thailand with a bunch of taxi drivers and a couple australians and 4 US citizens was amazing.

The challenges ahead are immense, but I am excited (as are the taxi drivers). Viewing American election results from a country that experiences such constant political turmoil truly brought tears to my eyes.

Cheers to all, now time for some sleep!
