  1. “…if the election were next week, Holtzman would be your nominee. If these two campaigns went head to head, as is, right now – Holtzman’s campaign would win.”
Alva, with all due respect, after Beauprez won the Larimer county straw poll today 78% to not much, and Holtzman had fewer than 500 people combined at his RV kickoff events (John Elway not among them), your statement from the other day loses a little punch…
So when are you going to update the line?

  2. Elway isn’t on the bus.  Foreman isn’t on the bus. Nancy Reagan isn’t on the bus.  Holtzman is full of sh**.  Alva is probably on the bus.  In addition to BB’s ass-kicking of MH in Larimer County, look for Elway to be on his FEC report in October.

  3. My Dems Dream line up for 2006:

    Gov: John Hickenlooper
    Lt Gov: Jim Isgar
1st CD: DeGette retires, Romanoff Wins (not a slam on Diana, I just want to see Andrew go higher)
2nd CD: Mark Udall (without any serious opposition to bloody him for his 2008 Senate run)
3rd CD: John Salazar (by a 18 point margin)
    4th CD: Wes McKinley
5th and 6th: Hell freezing over
7th CD: Perlmutter or Lamm (may the best candidate win)

    Treasurer: Chris Romer
    Attorney General: Bill Ritter
Sec. of State: Shawn Mitchell (just joking)..maybe Dan Grossman

A boy can dream can’t he?

  4. ql –

You may dream for this, but I dream for something much greater, a day that the world’s people seek peace, not listening to authoritarians that seek absolute power over truth … If only our elected officials were to abide by these words:

    Leviticus, Chapter 19

18: Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

And, this was given to us by Moses.  But, Bush teaches and others teach, things that are not following these biblical statements.

Jesus said to forgive … but, also asked to not repeat the same errors over and over and over again.

Who are the Compassionate Conservatives, that seeks to protect the environment, not steal the oil, and protect the children?

  5. I find it funny how the liberals act. They complain about the high oil prices, they complain if we try to take oil from Iraq, BUT THEN they complain when we try to build an oil refinery. To the liberals there is no solution. We can’t buy oil, but we can’t extract our own either.Point being all thye really want to do is bitch at the GOP.

PS Vote no its your dough!

  6. Have to say I am appalled to read someone on a political blog to “go back to Cuba” for doing nothing other than expressing an opposite political point.

One of the founding principles of this nation is that people are to be free to express their political points of views. I do not always agree with what I read here and I will offer to debate the merits of a political point, but I would never tell anyone to not express them.

Having said that, I should that freedom of political speech does not apply to untrue statements. And saying that C & D are tax increases is simply not true. It in no way raises taxes. The same tax percents we pay now will be what we pay after the passage of C & D.

The only effect on individual Colorado taxpayers is that they will not recieve the EXTRA refund that Tabor demands for 5 years. We will still get any normal refunds we were entitled to when we file our taxes in the spring. I, for one, am quite willing to forego these extra refunds to get this state back to a financially healthy state.

  7. Bob Beauprez won a straw poll that his opponnent didn’t even show up for!  Congrats guys, congrats.  Maybe next time the county gop will give equal access to the list to BOTH candidates, that way they’re on equal footing.  Last time I checked, that’s what the party rules indicated.  Despite who called for the list first, they should have released it to both candidates at the same time to ensure equal opportunity.  Instead they decided to coronate Beauprez.

And the poster (JJlefty) that indicated that Elway was going to be on BB next FEC report is full of s#(%!  IT’s probably the same schmuck who said that MH was getting out of the race.

  8. Peter, God said the He knew us in the womb (Job 31:15), so I am guessing He is not pro-choice.  How do you rectify that with your liberalism?  If that is you “protecting the children” I am guessing that they would be better off without your help.

  9. Ahh GL,
But the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about is theology.  The fact of the matter is that certain factions in the GOP wish to impose THEIR theology upon every class of citizen in the USA.  The GOP puppet masters are delighted to have the country divide itself over this issue whilst they play fast and loose with our economic futures while no one is looking.

Let the morons debate theology while the puppet masters re-engineer the world through the WTO.  Let them dismantle trade unions world-wide, dismantle the middle class here and abroad and solidify their global corpocracy. The puppet masters are gleefully watching as they divide and conquer as the morons debate which Jesus, which god, which theology!

  10. Defero – you were either at the straw poll or at the MH event. Which is it? Beacuase unless you are a super hero in disguise – there is no way you could have been at both events (that occured at about the same time.)

Obviousy, you are posting on rumor and second hand information.

For a defender of truth – you seem to be more like a mouthpiece for the BB campaign.

  11. a-

I am glad you brought this subject to the forefront.  In my opinion, the abortion issue is not filled in complete contrast, we have some possible solutions – especially in education, from churches, the community, the laws.

No doubt to me, but this is my opinion, that it is wrong to kill a life that obviously has arms, legs, a beating heart and a mind, and to cease its living beating heart, because a mother doesn’t want the child or that she doesn’t understand that by removing the fetus, that it dies and that she (in God’s eyes – if you believe in God) will have to face God for that horrible decision.  And, I truly think that only God should be able to take life, except in the situation where someone is suffering greatly, or a mothers life is in danger, or in such pain, (the eldeerly) that wish that their lives would end gracefully from the pain of old age is somehow granted, respectfully.  Many hundreds of physicians face those choices and challenges everyday, protecting life, with the passage back to God.

From a morality standard, no doubt, that taking the life of a baby inside the womb is horrible and so utterly wrong, unjust, ie. murderous.  Yet, a mother brings and breathes that life into our world, she breathes it to this child … ultimately, she makes that decision, it is her body that provides a 9-month home for that life.

IF she, makes that choice, (when her life is not in danger) and removes that life, then I think we should remain “respectful, but no less, judgemental” of her supreme creation of that life.  As an example, the Jewish people don’t believe that life truly begins until after the child is born (my understanding).  In this regard, I agree and disagree.  Life begins when the soul enters the baby … “when does that happen?”  Does it happen in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th….. month?

Some people believe, that Life begins from the moment that the child has recieved a conscience self …. that the spirit “holy ghost” has arrived.  I don’t think that a holy spirit has arrived when the baby has no brain … no place for a soul to be without a brain, right?

So, ultimately, the problem can be solved, with a law that makes it criminal for an abortion beyond a certain number of weeks of pregnancy.  However, if the woman wants to remove that life, and the infant dies, then she will face not only God for her decision, but that of her entire community … they become the judge as well?  Ultimately, a mother can make that choice, it is her body, and she will have to pay for those consequences afterward … the law.

A woman who makes the choice to stop a pregnancy before the child has a brain, a heart, a soul … should be able to make that decision … Freewill is vastly important in the eyes of God I believe.  Yet, we should do everything possible to convince her to not end the life of that child before the time when a brain, a heart, a soul … noting the risks of what judgements might be awaiting her and all of us for the life/death decisions that some make in this life that are wrong and very horrible … taking the position that we have the right to think we are a God?

I am no God, neither is anyone here on this world … except maybe, a very unique and incredbile relationship that exists between God, Woman and child (a trinity) … because she carries that new hopeful child into the world, where the child will be hopefully blessed, loved and given every opportunity to find its life of happiness.  And, if the baby has no opportunity for a good life, then we should not bring them to this world — their souls don’t deserve the tremendous pain from the poor decision that adults make in everyday life … like in Africa.

A woman should have the right to make that/those choices over life, but none-the-less, it is crinimal, and wrong, ie. murderous. Question, should she be prosecuted for “pregnancy murder?”  Difficult to say, since she will have to face a judgement which is much worse than anything here on this earth, no doubt, her decision is horrendous (everything possible should be done to convince her not to do it), the disgrace from her community will also no doubt be enough of a punishment here, along with facing her creator — much much much worse!

We must be respectful of a woman, her bringing of that life.  The communty will need to figure out what her punishment should be, ie. “pregnancy murder.”  I think she will pay for her choice for the rest of her life and beyond, that is likely enough for her soul to carry … but, to make the decision to place a woman into a jail, next to a person who killed and murdered a person in cold-blood, for the rest of her life on earth?  It is difficult for us to judge, only God can likely know the correct level of punishment, because of the unique trinity that exists between God, the mother and the child.

  12. I know Defero.  Defero is a good friend of mine and believe me – John’s not Defero.

Burn – Please promise me you will come back here after the FEC filing to admit you were wrong about Elway not giving BB money.  Because there is a 100% chance that you are.  And when you are proven wrong, be a man and come back and admit it.  After you get done mourning the loss of MH’s last hopes that is.

MH has jumped the shark.  The next 6 to 9 months will absolutely bear this out.  I am very much looking forward to watching it happen – if i could, I’d sell tickets because nothing’s more entertaining than watching out-sized egos get put in check.

  13. Burn:

You are an ass. And on October 15 everyone will know it.  Elway will be on the list.  And so will several other former supporters of Holtzman.  I’ll look forward to your apology on October 16th.

    JJ

  14. Burn, you and Oppo need to calm down. We all know your candidate has had a tough couple of weeks but that’s no reason to get all testy. A good campaign manager would tell you to keep a lid on it but when all your staffers are so inexperienced, well, I guess it’s hard to keep track of all them kids…

Knock the county GOPs… THAT’s the way to win!

  15. Dear “the man behind the curtain”

You said, “The fact of the matter is that certain factions in the GOP wish to impose THEIR theology upon every class of citizen in the USA.

The puppet masters are gleefully watching as they divide and conquer as the morons debate which Jesus, which god, which theology!”

I don’t disagree with you about GOP aims of completing a theocracy … I speak from the same position as yours, DEMOCRATIC, that Freewill and choice are greatly important and need to be protected – that is why we have the 1st amendment, Bill of Rights, ie. US Constitution.

So, what did I say that seemingly deserves the name you presented to me as a Moron?

Moron (definition) 1) A foolish or stupid person. 2) A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.

It seems to me that your use of the term doesn’t apply to me, but might apply to you?

  16. Coloradopols.com … how can you interpret the poll in CD-7 that currently suggests that Herb is in almost a tie with Lamm, but you continue to give him 100-1 odds?

I think you need to put your robots together and come up with a better computer, with appropriate odds.  Maybe, Herb will win it ALL ?

  17. WASHINGTON (AP) — A leading Republican senator and decorated Vietnam War veteran said Sunday the Iraq war has destabilized the Mideast and is looking more like the Vietnam conflict a generation ago.

Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel, who received two Purple Hearts and other military honors for his service in Vietnam, reiterated his position that the United States needs to develop a strategy to leave Iraq.

Hagel scoffed at the idea that U.S. troops could be in Iraq four years from now at levels above 100,000, a contingency for which the Pentagon is preparing.

“We should start figuring out how we get out of there,” Hagel said on “This Week” on ABC. “But with this understanding, we cannot leave a vacuum that further destabilizes the Middle East. I think our involvement there has destabilized the Middle East. And the longer we stay there, I think the further destabilization will occur.”

Hagel said “stay the course” is not a policy. “By any standard, when you analyze 2 1/2 years in Iraq … we’re not winning,” he said.

  18. Defero – you been in the MH HQ? Do tell – how many staffers, who are they, and what are their ages?

Last I heard – the BB HQ was still in the GOP Office Building with some non-profit. Did that change? Tell me – what are the ages of the BB staffers? How many do they have?

  19. I finally saw the two candidates together tonight. I have to say – Bob’s been a huge supporter to the group and I like the guy personally, but he seemed to be off his game. Kind of stressed out, and he wasn’t as personable as he’s been in the past. What’s up?

  20. Everybody-
Sorry I was at work all day.  Yes, absolutely, if Elway comes up on BB’s FEC report on October 15th, I’ll apologize and admit I was wrong.  You won’t have to wait until the 16th, I’ll do it the day of.

JJ – I’m really not an ass and sorry you feel that way.  I probably shouldn’t have called you a schmuck and apologize for doing so.  But whomever came on this site and started the “suspending the campaign” rumor is a schmuck and I stand by that.

Defero – I’m not knocking all of the county gop’s.  Just the one’s who’d prefer to coronate this summer rather than elect next August.  I feel a special pride about the Larimer County GOP, having spent more than 5 years being a member of it.

  21. It’s no secret — BB expected to have MH out of the race by the end of summer. He’s having trouble filling all of his county chairs (Denver, for example) and the PAC’s in DC don’t want to pony up for a guy who’s leaving Ways and Means.

Personally, I think he’s just having trouble reconciling with the fact that MH won’t just roll over for him. He’s a great Congressman who expected to just prance into the Governors Mansion.

Who wouldn’t be insulted by the notion of having to run a campaign against someone like MH; a guy who’s never held elected office before but is managing to out fundraise and out mobalize?

  22. Vote No on C and D because I want my refund of 25 dollars back because it is a tax increase and the government has never done anything me, I am a self made man even though the taxpayers of Colorado helped me pay for my education at the University of Colorado I could really care less if others get that opportunity.

  23. He’s working like a dog to raise money, calling all of the MH donors and nearly begging them to give money, too (and ticking folks off).

He’s got a tight schedule, problems at home, and his real CM doesn’t actually start until September 1st.

Perfect reason to be “off his game”.

  24. Who is BB’s real campaign manager going to be?

The current guy, that tool from the slope, has been nothing but problems for his reputation in both Colorado and with the DC PACs.

  25. Yeah, that’s definately true.  He has managed to take Beauprez, who was a pretty popular guy with the DC crowd and totally piss them off with a few bonehead moves.

Beauprez deserves A LOT better than him.

  26. Saddam Trial:

    How does this work?

    1) Saddam states that he has Iraqi immunity as the President of Irag, because the old Iraqi Constitution says that he does, and the new one provides the same type of immunity for a President in Iraq.  All leaders in power receive this type of immunity as leaders … just as our President in the US does.

    2) Saddam wants to have Rumfeld and Bush as witnesses in a trial in his defense, because they know a great deal of counter-intelligence about the war between Iran and Iraq, (why decision were made in response to the war) since the US provided intelligence to him, as allies to his country, during the Iraqi/Iran war.  Indeed, Saddam says that Rumsfeld knows the reasons for the invasion into Kuwait as well.

    3) The Saddam trial is supposed to be Televised LIVE around the world … how is that going to work with the time difference in Iraq and the US?  Will the trial keep Americans up all night ???
