ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – A report has cleared Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin of ethics violations in the firing of her public safety commissioner.
Released Monday, the report says there is no probable cause to believe Palin or any other state official violated the Alaska Executive Ethics Act in connection with the firing. The report was prepared by Timothy Petumenos, an independent counsel for the Alaska Personnel Board.

with that other ethics investigation? Or will a hand-picked panel absolve her of responsibility there, too?
Do you think the panel that cleared her was fair and impartial?
What do you make of the timing of this report’s release?
She had the right to have who she wanted in that position, just as Obama has the right to have who he wants at Secretary of Defence, State, or Commerce.
I don’t care why she fired the guy.
Interesting to think she has a “right” to choose who gets to investigate her.
A more apt comparison is the President choosing a special prosecutor to investigate his own alleged misgivings. Since that’s a high spotlight position it usually will be someone who won’t be inclined to whitewash the matter.
The person she fired was not elected, he was appointed by the governor. She can fire him anytime she wishes, just like a president can fire a political appointee.
He was not fired for investigating her. She was investigated for firing him.
State employees in Alaska are at-will? That would make your statement true.
But maybe I misunderstood your original post. It certainly didn’t answer my questions, which were, Was the panel fair and impartial in your opinion? And, what do you make of the timing (which was the day before Election Day)?
FWIW, I kinda doubt that she did anything wrong, but I’m not familiar with the case. All I know is that people have said she hand-picked the panel that investigated her, and if so it sure makes the clearance suspect.
