In an October 31 article in the Vail Daily, Kaye Ferry, Ali Hasan’s most current campaign manager, gave voters quite a treat when she mastered giving the Hasan campaign more bad press. Ms. Ferry very strongly denounced 527 attack ads that have claimed Hasan “an HMO heir” will not fight for quality healthcare. In her efforts to point out how unfair the fliers are, Ms. Ferry abruptly told a reporter that the Hasan ad has turned away 527 money and the campaign has “turned them all down”. Did I miss something? Aren’t campaigns forbidden from collaborating in ANY WAY with 527’s? Should we commend the Hasan campaign for using their own money to crush Scanlon, or scold them for hiring a campaign manager that puts her candidate in a worse light than he does by himself?

It was a bad for Hasan, as the Vail Daily also ran an article in which local Right-Leaning-Independant-Loudmouth Don Cohen also called Hasan’s resume into question stating it wouldn’t pass a corporate test of validity. One commenter on the article hilariously chimed in on the discussion saying, “I got an Associates in Criminal Justice but I’ll not be running for Sheriff anytime soon” in an attempt to point out that college experience is not enough to qualify you for office.

It’s sad because Ferry used to be so thoughtful, prepared and well respected. It’s hard to imagine she made a mistake such as this. Especially when so many people (and apparently 527’s) are looking for a reason to nail his campaign. I bet (and would hope) her comments will be looked into.
But even after everything, this was a mailer I would never wish on the Hasan family. His father and sister have devoted their lives to healing and the ad was a shot at the whole family not just Hasan. Family should be off-limits for the most part.
I personally don’t think Hasan is trustworthy or matured or experienced enough for office. However, there are better things to spend 527 money on than such a false mailer.
