It is Halloween, and I am going out to Trick or Vote!

Democrats Work volunteers have joined the night of mayhem being thrown in Denver by New Era Colorado as part of the nationwide costumed canvass to get out the vote.

I am going to be frequently updating this post throughout the evening, and I want your help.

Post your pics/descriptions of your costumes, and the costumes of your pooties-puppies-kitties-iguanas, or just generally use this thread to talk about what scares you this Halloween.

12:00 Noon:I am going to be knocking on doors in the South suburbs of Denver in a few hours. I am meeting my team at the Gothic Theater, and we are going to grab turf sheets, hit the neighborhoods, and then reassemble for a big party featuring the Boulder, Colorado band “3Oh!3”.

Meanwhile, Democrats Work is also part of the team in Seattle, if you are out there, you might want to check them out.

What is extra awesome is that many of our group are in high school, and while they are too young to cast a ballot, they wanted to be part of the process to insure that everyone who can vote, does vote.

With there help we are growing a great youth outreach movement that is not just hitting the college kids, but everyone with a stake in the elections.

New Era is a non-partisan shop, so the message at the doors tonight will be about issues important to voters of all parties that share progressive values. That said, my costume is about… change.

2:00 Cobwebs are flying at the Gothic and the New Era Colorado folks are starting to try on costumes.

4:00 Putting on the finishing touches.

Set up is almost done. The trainers are trained. Canvassers will be ariving soon. The Democrats Work table is festooned with stickers. The bands are doing their sound checks. A Lightning bug is ready to pass out walk-sheets. Ted is… OH MY LORD!!! TED IS… MY EYES! MY EYES!!!

8:00 All done with the canvass. It was awesome. One house had an Obama Jack-o-Lantern another had carved “vote” into their pumpkin. This was definitely my kind of block.

When we were getting ready to go, we had a few VIP guests. Governor Ritter, Speaker Romanoff, and the legendary Gloria Steinem.
