Eric Eidsness Endorses Markey

  • by: Colorado Pols

In a letter to the Fort Collins Coloradoan today, the 11% third-party spoiler from 2006 throws in for Betsy Markey:

Marilyn Musgrave still doesn’t get it that voters are tired of the politics of personal destruction. She has gone over the top in personal attacks with her unfounded charges implying that Betsy Markey is a felon. Voters should not reward her bad behavior.

Markey is a work in progress, and I am impressed how she handled with dignity the Musgrave opening attack at the third debate and is finishing off her campaign on a high note.

There are 50,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats in CD-4, and most of them are east of I-25. If Markey doesn’t perform, listen to and represent the rural as well as urban areas, a Republican candidate will take the seat in 2010. Give her a shot and let’s see if she can take advice and prove her mettle.

He’s a Democrat now, after all.

    1. If you looked at the numbers in 2006 I think EE’s votes came from MM.  I don’t think these votes would have gone to AP.  I think EE put it within striking range.

AP did not deal with her Banko well, that (and the fact that her visuals didn’t match up well) is why she lost.

EE was like methadone.  People wanted to break away from MM but couldn’t bring themselves to go all the way.

My hope is that having tried the methadone, people who want to get off the junk go cold turkey on MM and take the plunge on Markey.

  1. I’ve checked pollster.com, and if I’m not mistaken there hasn’t been any polling of this race by a major polling outfit since late August. That just bewilders me – I thought this race would get a lot more national attention than it has. Can anyone explain why it hasn’t been polled at all?

      1. But you’d think somebody somewhere (who’s neutral) would be verifying this. Just once. Sometime in September or October, you know, before the election?

Instead, the race is being treated almost as if Markey were the longstanding incumbent coasting with a comfortable 20-point lead. Weird.
