Compare These Commercials

  • by: Sarah from No On 48

(A scarecrow isn’t human, but the Tin Man is. – promoted by Colorado Pols)

Released today are commercials from both sides of Amendment 48.

First, from No On 48:

And now from those who want you to think that an amendment to the Colorado Constitution “won’t change the Constitution,” we have a fireman scolding a nurse for putting both of their lives at risk:

The Fire from Personhood USA on Vimeo.
The Scarecrow from HELL! on Vimeo.

DNA? from Personhood USA on Vimeo.

The last three are mocking the intelligence of Coloradoans. Exactly how much money did they spend on these weird blunders?

Dont be a redneck who can’t tell the difference between a scarecrow/joke/Blair Witch and a person. Vote No on 48.

  1. DNA was particularily bad.  Based on the ad any collection of cells is a human being.  According to this line of thinking every time you comb your hair, shave, cut your toenails, spit, blow your nose or masterbate you are engaged in mass murder because these all contain DNA.

I know the point they are trying to make, but the argument is so poorly made that it invites mockery.

    Every sperm is sacred indeed.

  2. From yesterdays Vail Daily:

…some of the amendment’s most prominent adversaries oppose abortion.

The Catholic Church opposes it. National anti-abortion opposition groups aren’t funding it. Colorado’s pro-life Democratic governor, Bill Ritter, held a press conference on the Capitol steps to denounce it, joining the Colorado Bar Association and the Colorado Medical Society.

The executive director of the Colorado Catholic Conference, Jennifer Kraska, says the church believes life begins at conception. But Kraska says Catholics fear that the amendment’s passage wouldn’t end abortion but rather lead to judicial reaffirmation of abortion rights.

“We just don’t think this is the best way to pursue the end of abortion,” Kraska said.

I’m sure the groups who are backing this amendment are feeling pretty betrayed by all of this logic.

  3. …of an episode of ER.  I swear that was Nurse Hathaway dashing down the hall to save the test-tubes.  If Georgy Clooney were still there, he would’ve tripped her and then scooped her up and lead her to bed.  He was good.
